Hey guys, here's my latest — Q*bert! Got it from joemagiera. If you've ever dealt with Joe before, you know he's a stand-up guy. The transaction had great communication all the way through and he got the machine downstairs into my basement with very little effort. He even made sure I was okay while bringing it down as I had expressed concern of hernia surgery I had earlier this year. Kudos to Joe!

Pics below. It's in fair shape, but an overall solid cab. It has seen some water (as seen on the back door and in a few other spots) but I figure some wood hardener and sanding should take care of at least some of that. I'll check the restoration thread for some tips on that and the dimpling on the side when I get to it. I'm no restorer, but I like to at least get cabs to a "good" state if I can. For now, I'll be giving it a good cleaning and see what happens.

Best part...it works! Monitor has Q*burn on it (hehe) but hardly noticeable when the machine is on, but overall picture is good. Sound, speech, knocker...all work. Joystick centers and goes all 4 directions. I had a little trouble with a fuse blowing at F4 -- seems Q*berts are notorious with fuses from what I've read on this forum. But I got a slow-blo replacement and it worked. Again, Joe was very helpful in helping me decipher the issue to get it working again. It's definitely one of those great games from my childhood and I'm happy to have one in my collection.

Dude, sweet. I too got a Q*Bert last weekend and I LOVE it (and it doesn't even work all the way yet, ha). Such an awesome game. Congrats on the pickup!

Thanks! You got that sweet looking cocktail. That's so cool. The art on the top glass is awesome. Those crazy Qs love to blow fuses don't they? :) Good luck on your sound issue!

I love Q*Bert!! Bought mine back in 1992 for $60, non-working at the time. Great machine, it's well remembered by guests for sure.

Q*Bert's are notorious for the water warts on the cab. Looks like a very nice machine anyway! Are you gonna install Mike Doyle's multi kit?
I was impressed with the Cubes and FHMC Q*Bert, well worth the price of admission.

As far as power goes, I am not a fan of the linear supply in these machines, but the machine uses some odd voltages for the sound and knocker which makes it a bit tough for a drop in switcher.

My Q*Bert sits in a prominent place in my arcade:

It's one of those games that you really have to own to know what you were missing without one. Answer: a lot.

Q*Bert is indeed a classic. GREAT GRAB!

I have issues with mine blowing fuses too. F21 I think is the one that gives me issues. It blows and then I have no sound. I replace that fuse far too often. Other than that, it works great.
