Well, its kinda a haul.....
Moving to SC at the end of the week. Had to wrap up the 24 game collection and get it ready for the truck. Damn I hope it all fits on the 24 footer! Nothing like renting an EXTRA 24 foot truck JUST for the games - I guess I have a real understanding wife. :D

Good luck. I BARELY fit 14 cabs in a 17 footer. That leaves 10 more or 3 rows of 3 plus one more...which makes 4 rows of space you will need. Each cab is about 32" deep on average. 32" x 4 rows = 128 inches or 10'8" more. You're going to need a 28' truck to get them all in, unfortunately. That said, we did only have 2 cabs where the wheel well was instead of 3.... so I could have gotten 15 in there... which means that you can eliminate that last straggler... so take 32" or so off that 10'8" more you're going to need 96" more than the 17' I had or 8' more which makes 25 feet... man, it's going to be TIGHT TIGHT TIGHT. If you maximize space, as long as you don't have large cabs, you MIGHT be able to do it. Personally, I'd try to get a 26 footer...

where in south carolina? I'd be more than happy to help you unload if you're near my neck of the woods.

Frizzy,
Thanks for the math lesson - LOL! You put alot of thought into that. I looked at a 26' uhaul, and it had 3" risers over the wheels - IOW - the box set too low on the frame and they had to box in the wheels. The budget trucks dont - they have a flat floor (at least the 24' does). the arrangement pictured is 15 games and takes up 6.5' x 13' so 7 more upright cabs and a pin should fit fine. the last game is a cocktail which technically is a piece of furniture - so it can go in the other truck. I figured enough room between the 2 trucks just in case I needed overflow.
Im moving to Greenville, SC - about 700 miles or so from here. Tired of the cold winters. Downside is until I find a house to buy I have to store the games and stuff :(
But at least when im shopping for a house I can find a basement (which are few and far between down there) thats suitable for a nice arcade setup - then its game on!!
Im hoping to find an unfinished one - then I can build it how I want instaid of ripping out old to build it my way.

Having very very BAD flashbacks of Algebra, thanks Frizz. Just do the quadratic formula, and get a 24' w/ gate, it'll all work out in the end.

Welcome to SC!

Bust those puppies out and have a house warming! You could probably get 4 or 5 guys from nearby to drop in and maybe help move games around.

We'll bring the beer/snacks!

Oh dont worry, when I finally get into a house Ill be throwing out the please help thread. :D
Glad to see there are a few guys around where im going that are into it!

Yeah, those risers for the wheel wells sort of sucked. Luckily Midway cabs sit right on top without issue. Good luck with your squeeze.

So far I'm pretty impressed with the SC hospitality for game moving. I'm not sure what your ulterior motives are, but regardless.....it's damn cool to see it. I may have to cruise out to SC and see if its for real. :D

I think the main difference here is that there are relatively few collectors so we tend to be very welcoming. southern hospitality, i reckon. Greenville is not very close to me but you are a stone's throw from atlanta and some awesome CL deals.

So today was the day. I managed to get all the games into the 24 foot budget rental truck. Actually I kept the final 3 out (they are going into the other truck) due to in the last 4 feet that was left, i figured it probably would be difficult to manuver them in right on the edge. So I stacked bins and boxes back there.
This was including my Macsimizer tool box for work that is about 3.5 foot deep 5.5 feet wide and about 4.5 foot tall and its accompanying tool cart.

So bottom line is - if your just moving straight up upright cabs, and use the budget truck (no wheel wells in it), it IS very possible to fit 24 games in it.:D

So hopefully the rest of the move tomorrow night will go as smoothly as loading up the first truck.
I should have gotten some pics, but trust me - in the state i was in - I was more worried about getting everything in.

You will like it down here and I am looking foward to meeting you. Make sure to bring that truck to our warehouse and a whole bunch of money so I can fill it for you.
