well my Phoenix post saying "latest" was kind of a lie since i didn't get around to posting it before i got this, but yesterday i picked up a sweet deal on a Sinistar (thanks Mike)

I've wanted another Sinistar since I traded mine for my Robotron back in '01 (no regrets, its my favorite, even though the sinistar was really nice) but they don't seem to come around often...

Picking up a Phoenix on Monday yielded an even better score for my arcade yesterday! I'm big on williams games and this sort of "completes" my williams row, at least for now... Fellow klov'er Mike added another boardset for $50 bucks which was nice... and I got it running with a few ram swaps...

CPO is cracked and burned but ok, previous owner did very nice cabinet work on what was a water damaged corner, and looks like touched up around the original artwork (and some of the colored areas, not much, mostly the black)

monitor looks great, controls feel great, i'll get better (non-cellphone) pics up soon

i can't shake the grin!

thanks...

a new issue came up today while playing, lost controls (ship stuck down-left, no fire/bombs)
hopefully just a ground issue or wiring fault... not sure i'll get into it tonight but i want to play!

you gotta play it (with a real joystick too... 8-way works but the 49-way makes a big difference)

its classic williams, fast paced, hard but learnable, random not pattern based... and unique (you don't die from hitting most guys and you don't have to kill all the guys on the screen... feels weird at first, but play it and you'll see) with nice graphics (details...) and awesome sound (typical williams gameplay sound, with a topping of voice synthesized taunts by sinistar!)

short story (i'm sure there are writeups out there you can read so don't bother reading this):
you fly around space, mining crystals by shooting the rocks/asteroids, and picking up the crystals to earn sinibombs... you stockpile up to (as many as you can) 20 sinibombs, all the while the evil sinistar is being built (by the red guys, sorry i don't know the name off hand, they also steal your mined crystals)... and you're being shot at by ufo things (don't get hit)
when sinistar is built he warns you by name (your name is Coward by the way) and then goes after you, and you unload your stockpile of sinibombs on him, hopefully you have enough because he is big and fast!
rinse, warp, repeat

I love it... after playing i feel the same way i do after a good game of robotron... either that or frustration from dying so quickly

thats an understatement

"Beware i live" use to give me nightmares, and than i would smile knowing the next morning i was going to bike over the the 7-11 on my Duster BMX and spend all my New paper delievery money on Sinistar!

Yeah, it's crazy. Plus they made the 'crackle' of the asteroids blowing up just right. If you crank it up, it makes your teeth rattle while you're playing it, lol.
