latest addition: Atari Video Pinball

played around with a mirror, flexible but stiff plastic pulled from another (non-machine) blacklight fixture, "hinged" it to the blacklight fixture with tape, and i could swing it through an arc and see a visible improvement in the lower playfield when focused (pointed really... i'm just relying on the curve the plastic already has for the focus)

then i tried anchoring it while watching in a mirror in the other hand to find that sweet spot... (not as easy without a friend)

i don't know if the picture shows, but there's a noticable improvement... with a little more care in positioning this might be a good easy solution... at least until rich's led's are available (i have to admit i'm a little skeptical about hiding them from view... i already have to bend over too far to play this, if they are hanging down in front of the actual playfield they'll have to be really low profile)

the plastic is visible by about 1/4" from the front of the cabinet (and its probably about an inch and a half wide, so it'd be easy to shorten it a bit)

just an idea

i also got the monitor lined up a lot better... adjusted vertical size to widen the playfield... the sides look good now but the center drop targets are too wide for the playfield "cone" above them (especially on the left side, as you can see) hopefully i can tweak that in perfectly

(first pic is before the mirror, second is with it, can't really see much difference :(

Looking good

its the key design to this cabinet, were they really dim in the lower playfield from the factory?

proably and I think thats why yellow is the primary color used down there
as its the brighest
but also would be the first to get natural light to cause fading
and reduce its blacklight glowing goodness.

I plan to start looking at this soon as I get my game ready for the Portland Retro Gaming Expo in Sept.

Also Ill be posting news soon on a HighScore kit.

thanks

yeah that makes sense...

awesome

another question... is it typical for the lower drop targets to appear "wide" compare to the physical markers on the playfield? i got the rest aligned pretty well last night but in doing so the lower 5 targets are off... they seem too spread out, and the left one is about half off the edge of the "cone" or trapezoid above it... i figured it needed more adjusting, but looking at the klov page today i see the mame screenshot shows the same thing... coincidence?

thanks

My VP looks exactly like yours. I don't think it's an adjustment, I think that's the way it is. Mine's been that way the entire 10+ years I've owned it. If you find a way to line it up, please share.

Thx
Tom

Weird, no biggie i guess, hows your blacklight distribution?

No issues, I thought. I always thought it lit up real nice. I'll see if I can get a picture of it and post it.

Mine is an Irish cabinet. I don't think that makes any difference for light distribution, but I thought I'd mention it.
