here's today's pickup, Star Wars from Atari! I've long wanted one of these, and my arcade has been sorely missing any vector games, so I'm very excited about this (and its sister i hope to pick up next weekend)

plays blind, wg6100 is dead (no spot killer led on, but i have to learn to diagnose this monitor, already found lots of good info on this forum and the pdf faq... time to get dirty)

artwork is good, cabinet is solid (except the floorboard is busted out at the two back levelers)... one side has some scrapes and CHRIS (damn you) carved into it and a busted bottom corner, the other side looks almost perfect

control panel/bezels stuff is all pretty nice... i gotta clean it up still. marquee has cracked lower edge but otherwise in great shape...

fairly loud hum, speaker i'd guess (but could be the flourescent i guess)

what a beauty... this is gonna be great! i'll get better pics and more info up soon

Nice grab. I just spent the last few weekends replacing the bottom of my SW cab - same issues as yours. The leg leveler tnuts were all ripped out. Now she's nice and sturdy.

Let me just take this opportunity to state (AGAIN) that I can't stand how heavy Atari cabs are.

Keep us posted on the 6100 rebuild.

yeah i'll have to replace the bottom at some point (and fix one front corner)

they are heavy, and this was by '83... i can understand the atari games from earlier

couple things i forgot, it has the ESB multi kit in it which is nice, and some LV upgrade (haven't investigated it yet, i think he mentioned maybe jkoolpe put it in, not sure)

also it needs a yoke overlay, don't know what this game was

Congrats. LV2000 perhaps? They look like this:

LV2000orig.jpg

Their web page has info about how to check and adjust the voltage if you need it. http://www.vector-repair.com/

I used to spend time trying to diagnose 6100's but then I found out that just installing a deluxe BR rebuild kit fixes just about all of them and then you end up with a completely rebuilt monitor so that's the way I go now. Good luck getting it going....it's a great game!

disconnect the fluorescent light fixture and ohm out the transformer up there. Otherwise you will screw up bulbs, ballasts and possibly the power brick if it is bad. Bob roberts gives values for phms of light transformers on his site.

Thanks guys

Yup looks like the lv2000

I'll have to ask the PO what the rebuild from the past entailed

Komodo, for the hum? i'll check it tonite

Thanks guys, it sure is a thing of beauty, can't wait til i can say the same for the vectors and gameplay!

Messed with how so? Lv upgrade, i assume a cap kit was done someday, hopefully a deluxe rebuild, i haven't asked yet

I did find a pulled wire, "yellow" going to the very top of the lv/deflection board YEL
The whole monitor harness is very tight going to the game pcb so i need to get some more slack in it, mighta pulled on the drive home

I still haven't done all my reading or put the multimeter on it yet, but there is neck glow

Do those side board mounts (empty) mean it had an amplifone in there originally?

Thanks again

Nice find! Good luck w/ your monitor fix. I hope you get her up & running soon so we can see pics of the Star Wars vector-y goodness!

Yes, it had an Amp originally. I think maybe all of them did. But that's why the connector cable is so short and pulled so tight. You can make an extension for that if you buy the parts from Bob Roberts. Or Spaeth was selling some pre-made ones at one time and may still be. Not sure.

ah sweet

yeah clearly there was never enough slack to get to the connector mount on the monitor frame!

too bad the amp is gone, oh well

since the yellow wire already pulled from its solder point, i'll probably extend that and the two or three more that are tight while i'm at it, and skip an extender... but thanks for the tip

and thanks for the link to the vector-repair... i see that the LV2000 should have two leds lit...

thanks, me too

so trying to diagnose this monitor while i wait for the kit i just ordered...

for starters, F101 blows on power up... when the transistors are disconnected from the deflection board they check out not shorted... when they are connected to the deflection board they measure 4-10 ohms...

i get no leds lit (spot killer nor LV2000 functioning leds)

ordered the bob roberts deluxe kit tonight, and a bunch of fuses (6.25 amp slo blow instead of 5amp per the FAQ)

besides just installing the entire kit (which i'll likely do anyway) anything you pro's recommend to actually diagnose this?

thanks

Just wondering....did they use dado and rabbet cuts for the bottom panel? I think a lot of Atari cabs just attached the bottom panels to blocking on the inside and I'd rather deal with that. My Star Wars is borderline on if it needs to have the bottom replaced, but I'd go that route if I really restore it.

i couldn't tell ya, but eventually i'll have to replace the floor on mine as well

i fixed my lunar lander earlier this week so i'm juiced and ready to dig into fixing this 6100... with two new fuses, the plug above the lv2000 and the frame mounted transistors unplugged, fuses blew instantly, although i had the right (from the back) red led on the lv2000 come on before i cut power

so i'm off to check voltages getting to the deflection board and start replacing components, see if i can resurrect this thing without a full deluxe cap kit

why i love my starwars?....it talks to me...... "look at the size of that thing!"...... oh i forgot, it meant the death star. nice pick-up. welcome to the starwars and vector club! red five standing by!
