Latest Acquisition...

Picking it up on my lunch today. I was sick yesterday and didn't want to go out in 15 degree temps... it's bought... paid for... and I have a receipt. :D

I really like the upright more than the cocktail. The art for the monitor really makes it fun. I love mine and can't wait to get it moved into my new place (hint hint racer_x lol). I'd really like to find a second and link them to be a 4 player upright. Would be fairly easy to do.

Made it home... and managed to damn near lose my first machine... I went "all in" on buffering the fall and managed to skin my knee up pretty good but the game appears to be fine. >sigh<

That's what I get for picking a game up when I'm not really feeling that well I guess...

Warlords: 1
Frizz: 0

Glad you and the machine are ok!

It looks super clean Frizz . Congrats !

Yeah, it's in pretty damn spanky physical condition. I have a lot of cleaning to do on the inside and the monitor is blurry as hell (we'll see if I can adjust that out)...

Scrapes and skin heal themselves, particle board not so much ;) Good call sacrificing the knee for the game, I've done it myself.

Atari games are H-E-A-V-Y and they leave a M-A-R-K. We should have warned you. LOL

Congrats on now being a member of the Warlords Club.

QUESTION: Where in the heck is the focus pot on this old ass monitor (Manufactured August 1979)? There are 4 pots at the bottom of the chassis... screen appears to be one, some sort of black level is the other vertical hold and vertical size I believe (only tweaked with them once). The screen is a but blurry... THAT SAID, I suppose it COULD be a very dirty monitor (I'm on my way to cleaning it... just ain't got there yet)... though I imagine there HAS to be a focus pot, no?

Found it... evidently it's on the chassis toward the left... not along the bottom like the rest...

Love the bad ass war wounds. What's an arcade pickup without a pulled back, ripped off nail, or some type of injury?

Congrats on finding a mighty fine Warlords.

Unfortunately ... much like myself ... Warlords has some minor injuries to heal...

(1) The left pot works about 20% of the travel...

(2) The right pot works about 80% of the travel...

(3) The monitor will need to be recapped. It gets... ALMOST focused but just not quite there.

(4) There are some PCB issues. It appears I have at least one bad RAM and potentially a POKEY issue (according to the folks in my repair thread)

Who works on these older B/W Atari PCBs?

I will keep that in mind Cossak...

I think the first thing I need to do is find someone who'll work on the PCB to address the RAM issue (and at the same time test the pokey)...

If you work on Warlord PCB's and are looking for what is likely a pretty easy fix... PM me.

My go to guy for pcb repair is mikerk. I am pretty darn good at soldering, adding sockets, removing chips, etc. but my skills in diagnosing an issue are little to none.

I would be first in line if they had an arcade repair class locally. I dont mind learning from youtube, but hands on training is the best way to go.

PM mikerk to see how busy he is, but I am sure right now with the Christmas holiday, nothing will get done until Jan.

I'm not worried about how long it takes to be honest... this bad boy has been sitting for a LONG time... a couple more months won't make much difference...
