I think this may be my last question before I'm done.
In test mode I get sound from 1 2 3 and nothing from 4 5 6
Other than missing sounds game plays prefect.
I'm using the ram from my spy hunter ssio.
I swapped out the 2 sound chips and the z80.
What did I miss.

Allen

While I'm at it THANKS cdjump for the help so far.

Check the wires on all the connectors and make sure they're seated and attached to the pin in the connector and the pins in the connectors are touching the pins on the pcb. There's one connector with 6 wires on it I think that has 2 speaker wires and 4 for the controller. It's attached to the SSIO. On mine one of the speaker wires came out of the pin and those same channels were missing and I was losing my mind and about to carry the cab across multiple states to cdjumps place to relieve me of my frustration. Once I reattached the wire it worked like a charm.

the easiest way to start diagnosing it is to make sure that you've got a good sound amp and connections to the pcb.
Leave j3 connected, and add a piece of wire from j3 pin 7 to j3 pin 9, then run the channel test. If you get all 6 channels you have a bad amp on the amp pcb.
Swap the 2 8910's from one side to the other. If you are now missing the other 3 channels, then you've got a bad 8910. If your still missing the same 3 channels, chances are the lm3900 at d3 is bad, or the 3403 at c10 or e10 depending on which channels are missing. Those are the most common problems. Also, bad caps and or resistors can cause missing channels as well. I've gotten to where i use an audio source and inject it onto the pcb until i lose the signal to find where the bad component is.

I will have to get back to it after work. At this point it has to be something fairly simple. I left the game on for a couple hours last nite and still only got the first 3 channels to work during the test, But playing the game all of the sounds worked most of the time. ex. I have sound for a few seconds at the beginning of each stage when the text is coming up it starts and fades out. then when the stage starts playing full sound most of the time. After replacing the 6116 channels 1 2 3 work 100% I think. Will get back to it tonite.

Thanks for your time and input.
