I had a feeling they were going to go retro with the cover. Nice touch. I'm going to pick this up and frame it with my Issue #1. :)

You can see a few previews at http://www.nintendopower.com/

Cool! Is it already in stores?

Yes! My subscription ended in October, so I picked 2 up on Sunday at Walmart, one for reading and one to keep sealed. It's a great issue. Bittersweet... The cover rules and it has some nice fan service (can't say the same for the Big N itself lately).

Nowhere around my place sells them, but my cousin picked one up for me.

I would order one, but last time I tried ordering from Future Inc I kept getting notifications saying it was delayed. Then I got one that said it was out of stock and I would get a refund... this was months later.

I do like the look of the cover, and I've heard decent things about the issue itself. I'm not sure if I will open my copy or keep it sealed. Guess if I find a second I will keep one sealed.

Yeah, it's a good retrospective issue with some nice touches.

The all-time greatest Nintendo games list is a fluke IMO since it's done by the current staff. There are some questionable selections and placements. The poster that was included is pretty sweet though.

I bought two at Target, one to keep sealed and the other to read/frame.

** spoilers **

Ha. Definitely - I enjoyed arguing quietly to myself with the selections. A little enjoyment advice, don't read the rankings closely. Let's see: Picross 3D ranked over Super Mario RPG! Tragic. Tiny Toon adventures over Donkey Kong Country. Conker's Bad Fur Day & Cooking Mama over F-Zero!! Both Super Mario Galaxy games ranked OVER the original Super Mario!!! WTf?! Should I blame the schools? cocaine? Final Fantasy 1 is not even listed. They should've consulted people who were actually alive at least when the SNES came out. We should create an alternate list, just so I don't go crazy.

Maybe it was a random list of Nintendo games they have nostalgia for. That would make more sense. Even so, how can you have nostalgia for Rock Band 3? Which, by the way, is ranked over Pokemon Red/Blue, Starfox, Tecmo Bowl, and TMNT II. Enjoy!

Rockband 3 ranked higher than those golden titles... That's like giving the middle finger to the Nintendo gods.

FFIII was 5th, which I would agree with, but the original is not in the top 300. FF1 was so awesome when it came out. It blew Dragon Warrior out of the water IMO

Oh my bad, I didn't read the list through carefully as it sucks so badly. Haha. But I would agree with you FF1 was epic when it first came out and paved the way for the rest of the series. Ironically, it was supposed to be the FINAL game the company would make before going under. I'm glad they were on their game at the right time. Can you imagine never having played any of the other FF games? :O

maybe time to go buy some more copies for a future investment ;)

It's the next Tickle-Me-Elmo!!

Are people fucking stupid?

I think people forgot what a newsstand is. You should check out prices on early issues of Walking Dead. I thought it would be cool to have issue 1 (and not just as part of the compendium). Apparently, so did everyone else.

That or how you can order from their site and get the subscription issue with out the bar code on the front. I ordered two for less than what some people are paying for one newsstand cover version.

If I don't get a confirmation email from them soon, I may still pick up a copy from the store if I see one, but I like the idea of framing this next to issue 1 (not that I have issue 1 either...my first issue is 20).

I did the same thing, to have subscription copies. Took an hour or two to get a confirmation. My newsstand issue is in the shelf next to my 91' Final Fantasy NP guide. Awesome.

Yeah the list just kinda made me angry as well but I tried not to let it bug me to much. I couldn't imagine putting a list together and mixing current games in with it. Really I just don't know much about em. It's hard for me to believe anything could live up to older games but guess I'm just a old timer. Gotta be tolerant of the newer generation players. I do enjoy some current stuff but not much of it.

It's odd but seem's like college kids today look at retro as being the N64. I just can't imagine a world without the NES or SNES. I've got nothing against the N64 it has good games just it seems new to me, lol.

Like the Atari was a bit before my time. I'm familiar with and enjoy alot of the games on Atari but some titles that were big hits I don't understand why they were. Kinda like kids today would look back and think who would enjoy NES games.

Oh well I'll stop rambling. Sad to see Nintendo Power come to an end. I won't act like I've been reading it currently but it was alot of fun to read back in the days. I loved getting the new monthy issue in my mail box and sitting down and reading it. I had subs to other mags that were good but I don't think I enjoyed as much as Nintendo Power.

I didn't even think about grabbing a subscriber version. Good call guys. Just ordered 2 from the Future US site. Got my confirmation email immediately.

Well said and true. Gaming has changed a lot and is reaching more people than ever, which is a great great thing. Plus there are some truly magnificent current gen games. I liked Fallout 3, Skyrim, & Bioshock so much, I felt like I was cheating on Nintendo.
