As we prepare for system upgrades, we are going to continue to prune and tweak some things here.

One of the things that doesn't look like it is going to survive the upgrade is the current set of online playable games. The games themselves get little use, it isn't easy to transition them, there are other maintenance concerns, and the related forum section hasn't had a post in a year. Oh... and many are based on Flash, which IMO has no place in this world.

So last call if you want to play any of them:

(and forum section: https://forums.arcade-museum.com/forumdisplay.php?f=88 )

Can one of the updates be to the VAPS to add the latest Stern pins. I like keeping track of what I have but can't add any of the latest pins.

Same here.

It was interesting to see who has the high scores, and how many high scores some people have.

Interesting piece of KLOV history. Wish I'd known about it sooner. Makes me wonder what else is hiding here that I haven't discovered.

This isn't the right thread for this, but since you brought up the subject...

So while there is a large image queue (we are working to change processes), there isn't a large game queue.

There are no pinball entries in queue, 5 videogames, 2 arcade, 1 vending, 1 slot machine. Almost all things in queue have been stuck there for some time.

If you want to add pins, go the main site (log in), see top menu bar: "Helping Out", and see the 'Add a New Game' section...

The site has grown without a major reorganization. With redesign work this fall, hopefully it will be easier to find and discover features around here.

I've brought this up a few times with zero response in different threads. Thank you for a real answer.

You know, I've visited that section but never bothered looking into the pinned topic (which houses the link).

I always figured that the section belonged to some sort of classic arcade high score... pool so to speak.

Anyone got that stuff backed up before it goes away or are they hosted elsewhere?

Had no idea those existed.

Also, I'm REALLY not looking forward to a forum software change. Very much dreading it actually.
I miss this style of forum, it seems to be going extinct everywhere on the net... Shouldn't we, as a preservation society, try to preserve it? Please.

Is there going to be any effort to organize posts by mapping them to one or more referenced games? It's darn near impossible to find solutions to common problems with specific games. Pinside has that pattern down pretty nicely. Historical patterns for game pricing? Yes please.

Regarding pinning a thread to a game. It's an interesting idea. I never noticed that on Pinside before, but I'm not active there. I'll have to explore further.

Regarding archiving the old online games here (the games being the real purpose of this thread)… for logistically reasons I don't plan to. If you are interested, here is the background on the games:

We originally downloaded the games as a single pack if I remember correctly. It was part of something called 'v3 Arcade', an add-on for vBulletin 3.x series. Now the related domain redirects to: https://aliensoup.com/resources/ I can see the developer made a version for Xenforo 1.x series, but both they and other developers all chose to stop support for these types of games and they don't support Xenforo 2.x, which is what we are moving too...

In short, Flash Games are archive material at this point, and HTML 5 games haven't taken off enough to replace them.

I've always heard rumors of these "games" but never had I known how to find them. I figured you just needed to be in some secret club.
