I am thinking about adding a laser light show to my game room. I saw one recently at Spencer's. Anyone else have one? If so which one would you recommend and why? I would assume it would need to be pointed towards the floor or ceiling to avoid distracting game play. Good idea or not?

Thanks,
Carmen

They usually get pointed towards the ceiling to make a light show that syncs with the music. I used to have one at college years ago (good mesh with use of "psychedelics") ;)

I have them,a while back this topic came up and someone posted a link and I bought it. Its a little blue unit that shoots red and green lasers.

It's easy to "roll your own" music display with a laser.

Get a small speaker and put a mirror in the middle of it. Get a small motor with a speed control and glue a mirror on the end of the shaft so it's not quite perpendicular to the shaft. You want it offset a bit.

Bounce the laser off the mirror on the speaker then off the rotating mirror on the end of the motor shaft and onto a while background (ceiling, wall, etc...)

As the speaker moves to the music the laser will bounce. As the mirror rotates it will move the laser dot around in a circle on the wall/ceiling. Combine the 2 and it looks like an oscilloscope representation of the audio playing through the speaker. The more the speaker moves to the music the larger the peaks on the "display" will be.

Here is a quick vid of the laser I got from Ebay, keep in mind that it is DARK and the laser doesnt really come through on the camera...
It does broadcast a very large pattern and is well worth the $25 IMHO!

If you find the link let me know, thx Bitch...

I saw that at Spencer's and thought the same thing. Would be a neat addition to the arcade...

I'm in! Just have to figure out which laser I want. I would like to keep it towards the ceiling so I'll have to do a little homework. That laser projector is bad ass. Thanks for all the great comments and ideas.
