Thanks guys my question is video out. Here is my problem. I have the laserCon hooked up and working on a Pioneer LD-V4400. I just picked up 2 working Pioneer LD-V8000 players. I wanted to use a V8000 instead of the V4400 because its the best player and it has the hold and freeze feature.

I have both LD-V8000's all set up baud rate ect, My problem in video out on the V8000. Do you have to have a special connector? The only video out in the V8000 is a plug connector, not the coax cable connector needed to go to the monitor board. Here is a picture of the back of a V8000 the only out connector that my cable fits on is the sync out and that does not work??? Special connector??

Your NTSC-RGB converter should have a BNC connector on it not a coax. Either way, you can use the video out on that player, all you need is a BNC to RCA. It would be BNC Female to RCA MALE.

Your audio is RCA cables right (red/white)

Ok might be a BNC I will take a picture of it. Yea the audio cables are RCA they work fine. I will go take a picture of the cable that connects from the special montior PCB to the Laser Player. Where would I find a BNC to RCA connector? Radio Shack?

Nice I like that one it has a 6' cord.

One other question. I have a Multi Rom board coming soon. So I can play both Dragons Lair and Space Ace in the same machine. Once I get that installed Im going to want to put the laser player on the top of the machine, so its easy to change out the disks. I have extensions for all my original cables, so they will reach the top of the machine with out hacking the original wires. The only thing that is going to be short is the connector that connects the new laserCon board to the Player. Has anyone found a extension cable that will connect to to the new serial interface cable provided with the LaserCon board and the laser player? So it looks like it would be a 15pin male on one side, adn 15pin female on the other?

He has the pin outs on his page to make your own cable

Yes I could make a new connector, thats a 9pin female to a 15pin male. I just want something I can connect into his cable to extent it. so it would be a 15pin female to a 15pin male. I can make a complete new cable it there is no other option:)

To add some confirmation to this thread, I have used the BNC to RCA adapter on some of my laser games and it works great! For my SA/DL, I also extended all of the cables to the laserdisc player allowing it to sit on top of the game (much easier to swap laserdisc). Get the parts the other folks mentioned here and you'll be fine.

Thanks Scott this is my first Laser game. I just bought a BNC to RCA adapter at Radio Shack, So I should be able to hook up one of my Pioneer LD-V8000's tonight. Im going to buy the extension cable that tron1969 posted. Im also excited that the Pioneer LD-V8000 has a second video and audio output for RCA cables. Im now im thinking im going to put the laser player on the top back side of the cabinet and velcro a flatscreen monitor on the top front of the machine, hook it up to the extra outputs.

Has anyone mounted a external monitor/tv on top of there Dragon's Lair?

Pioneer LD-V8000 player up and running. Dam this player is fast!!!:cool::cool:

Thanks for the help eveyone:)

I have heard of others putting a TV or monitor on top of DL and SA, just as some of us saw it done by OPs BITD. With splitters or splitter type cables it is pretty easy to do. It's a little harder to do with games that only output video expecting the merged signal (video/graphics) to go to a video game monitor, but it can still be done.
