Its a good deal. Someone will eventually recognize/remember what you've got there and snatch it up. They were selling for that price just a few months after Ruben and his good time buddy did the run like over a dozen years ago or something like that. Good luck finding another one people, if you can use it dont hesitate :)

Good deal? I would not say so. For much less you could recently get a Dexter, which replaces laserdisc player and disc. LaserAce was an excellent product 15 years ago, but nowadays it is not worth so much. You still have to find a reliable laserdisc player, hoping that you still have a good disc to go with it. Good luck with that.
You could have probably sold it at that price until a couple of years ago or so, not today.
Not to mention Cliff hanger is very well emulated in both Mame and Daphne.

Matteo

Look who showed up it's the price police. That's nice of you to sh*t on my thread a pm would of been a better option douche

I'm certain that italiandoh had no intention of being negative towards your post. He's a friend of mine, and one of the most helpful people in the gaming community. I can also assure you that his information is absolutely correct because we are the "hardcore laser guys".

The trouble is, all of the people who could have used a LaserAce, were also the first people to order and get a Dexter player, so there really is not much demand for that type of player conversion board any longer.

Regardless of the price, you're going to have a difficult time finding a buyer.
But, LaserAce is an excellent product, and I hope someone who can use it finds this thread.

Sending you a pm had a few questions about the ace

Laserace is a good product, but Ruben and his partner are two of the most despicable underhanded individuals ive ever dealt with. Sometime when I feel like it I will tell my story (in a different thread, place and time =) about how I supported their project with plenty of cash, and then was just stabbed in the back in a vicious, petty and extremely greedy way for no reason at all. Its quite a story and 100% true. Bump for the seller! These just cant be found anymore and are built to a really high standard.

wow this ones gonna be good where's the MJ eating popcorn pic

It's a doozy. Also, calm down Matteo. You're getting bits of spittle and saliva all over the thread with that little rant. Say it, don't spray it. Not everyone wants full emulation, and not everyone wants to have their game running with full hardware but no disc. I think having a laser disc and player in the machine is a significant part of running a laser game. I'm surprised you don't. You guys assume that everyone just wants to ditch the original technology and absolutely everyone switch over to something akin to emulation. As you know, the laserace lets the user keep everything original and just upgrade to a very reliable player, like a ldv-8000 pioneer, which as far as I know are still easy to get a hold of. The product has its uses. As far as I know, the competing product you sell Shaun, as well as Matt's product dont accomplish the same thing, even when utilized together.

Wow. I don't read any spittle into Matteo's post. Yes, he may be a bit too blunt about it, but there is certainly no venom there. The problem with text communication is the loss of inflection, and we too easily jump to the worst.

As for my product, the Merlin-8000 does everything the LaserAce does with Dragon's Lair, and it does it better because it does it does it at the firmware level. Plus you get multiple ROM sets.
The advantage of LaserAce is that it works with many different lasergames. But that's also why it costs more.

As for Dexter, the community torn on that one. We all want to keep using a real laserdisc player, but the writing is on the wall. Anyone who has had a lasergame for more than 5 years or so, and has had it running regularly, has had to replace the player, perhaps multiple times. The supply of working players is drying up quickly. Yes, the Pioneer LD-V8000 and LD-V4400 are still fairly plentiful, but that wont last.
Dexter, in my mind, is just another replacement laserdisc player. It acts just like one. It installs just like one. The only difference is that this player is solid state, and it will most likely out last me.
So I'm glad to have it.

I'm not upset with Matteo, I've chatted with him many times on irc and am aware of his great contributions. He's a super guy. Something had to be said though because his post was extremely one sided. You raise some good points. I have several points and ideas from the conservative preservationist perspective I'd like to make, but I will leave it out of this thread and post it elsewhere later. But there you go potential buyers, straight from one of the main experts in the field. If you want practically all that the Merlin does thus retaining in use most of the original hardware, but for use with a non cinematronics laser game, this may be your solution.

Wow, I never post here on KLOV and look what I did!
Surely wasn't my intention to hurt anyone's feeling. Sorry if you took it like that.
I just wanted to underline that selling a LaserAce at that price nowadays it not a good deal, in my opinion. And, just FYI, I have a LaserAce, a LaserCon, a Dexter but I still have all my games running on original hardware. But, as Shaun said, this won't last. In the end only emulation will survive. This is just my opinion, take it positively and do what you want.

Matteo

You've caused enough damage to my thread with your opinions.Do have any interest in buying this?No you don't so move on Matteo.

I will go away from this thread, don't worry, sorry for the inconvenience. I also deleted my other posts in this thread. If you want to remove the rest of "the damage", ask to the other posters to remove the quoted text, I can't do that.
Good luck with your sale!

Matteo
