Hi everyone,

i was hopping someone might be able to help me with my Laser Jukebox i just got. it is currently set on free play and plays great, but about 1/3 of the cds are not working. Mostly at the end of the music selection. I have checked the CDs and they all look great, no burned CDs, no scratches or anything like that. they all play fine on my other CD player. anyone have any ideas of what the problem might be and how i can fix it.

Thanks for the help,

it's a Pioneer Laser Juke Model No: Cj-V55

Those jukes use CD "cartridges". I've seen those "carts" go bad. Another very common problem with those jukes are the laser player lens...it simply falls out. You can glue it back into place, but you only get one shot at doing this. Be very careful not to get any of the glue on the lens itself. ONLY put glue around the edges, and not alot of it as it will spread out.

Laser Jukes

I had one that would play fine when it was cool. The owner had me re-lamp the unit, and the CD player started to go snaky. It turns out the CD player was dying, and the heat was killing it. We replaced the CD Player (CDPRO) for around $600 for the player.

Which player do you have in this thing?

Was it possible to convert a Pioneer juke to use Rowe equipment ??? I've never seen this done. Pioneer jukes did not use CDM-12 or CDM-Pro players, at leat not the two Pioneer models that I have ever seen....

Problem Solved

Coinopshop you are Awesome!!! After playing with it a little bit this morning I believe you are right and it is a cartridge problem. It looks like two of them were bad and not loading the disks correctly. There was a new one that came in a box with the Jukebox I changed out the CDs and it played perfectly. I then moved the new one over to the 2nd bad cartridge and that slot play great as well. I still need to purchase one more new cartridge, but it looks like I'm going to have it working in no time.

Thanks Everyone for the help and arcadetechgw I will keep your tip about the laser in mind in case i have anymore issues with the machine.

Thanks again,
