When I hunted for replacement laminate on a Tapper CT restore, the Wilsonart guy told me that they produce the laminate in huge batches. No 2 batches of the same color will ever be exactly the same, if they even make them again. Once its gone its gone. You may find close, but unless you find some shelf stock somewhere...I'd grab the close match.

Remember too, you're trying to match to 30 year old laminate. Odds are, it's not the same color today it was in the 80's. Doubtful there really is such a thing as a perfect match.

it's not like the other two you compared to are somehow not 30 years old too :) You could compare a hundred of them, they are still all 30 years old so you still really don't know what the true original color was. Most 70's era laminates yellowed over time.

Seriously, rule #1 of Forums, try and answer the question asked.

Yes, there are many many makers of laminate.... The place where I buy my wilsonart vertical black laminate (they supply contractors mainly) has a show room with about 20 different boards - each with tons of color chips... Or maybe those boards -each with a name for the style or brand all come from those big three.... But seriously, you are tilting at wind mills here - laminate is like paint, the colors change each year to match the design trends... They don't keep colors going for 30 years...

stop being defensive long enough to listen to what people are saying. You're chasing a red herring.

My son is a cabinet maker
Same applies here or there in the US

His advise would be:
Ask a cabinet maker who the other companies are

Get your list (If there is a list) from them :)

My advice for you prOk is, if you don't have an answer for the question asked, STFU.

Picked up a few chips for a match a few months ago and came across them today... Here are three laminate companies:

Nevamar.com
Pionite - panolam.com
Lamitech.com

Thanks,. I mentioned Nevamar and Pionite in the initial post on this thread but Lamitech is one I'd not found,. I'll check them out, thanks for the pointer!

I will be picking up some laminate at a commercial showroom in the next couple weeks - I will grab a chip off each brand board and post - there were between 10 and 15

Conclusion; I found a pretty close match. Not perfect but much better than I had found when I started the thread. Sad as had I listened to the advice given here I would have given up and not kept searching. And it wasn't made by any of the companies Joeycuda mentioned.
