Well my friends, daughters and I have been having a real good time playing Last Action Hero. In fact it has gotten quite a bit of play since I aquired it.

But, this past weekend, when I turned it on, the crane immediately started up, turning counter clockwise. And subsequently, just about every time another ball is cued up it starts up, going in the either direction. So basically the crane is in constant motion, which can't be good! I have tested and tested it since this occured, and it is basically the same every time; something is skewed..

I have the schematic, but no so good at decifering it.. What is it that controls the crane? Hearing the stories about the extremely limited supply of the crane motors makes me paranoid that all these crane movements could burn the motor up! Kien Gute!

Anybody have any ideas?

Thanx!

In the Adjustments menu there should be a way of turning it off, that should save the motor until you can get it fixed.

There is a switch at each end where the crane stops (one on the left where it locks the balls and one on the right where it drops the ball to return to you)

Make sure both those switchs are good in test mode because if they are not than that could be your problem.... The crane will never hit the "end" on either side and cause it to keep moving around....

Thanx Fattrain, I think you have hit the nail on the head. In test mode the left switch does not turn on, and that is where it should be resting when not activated.

So the next question would be, where is that non-working switch? And what type of switch is it? I hope it is not inside the motor housing!

Solved!!!!

Dude, perfect call! I stuck the board up vertically and ran the test... sun of a gun left switch came on! Put the playfield down, and the switch turned off again.. grr.. So I gently pulled the crane back and forth a tiny bit, which in turn, showed me where the switch was! It is at the side of the payfield, actually where it stops to go back the other direction. So after a little bending outward of the switch "clip", the crane works properly!

Woo hoo!

"I'd buy that for a dollar!"
