First off I have to send out a big THANK YOU to Tighe for giving me a heads up on this one.

This was on CL in North Jersey. A rare case where the seller didn't use any of the key words I search for so I didn't catch it but Tighe did and told me about it.

This is one cool caberet. It's a KYODO Galaxian. This defiantly came from Japan. There are Japanese stickers stuck in various places all over this machine. Outside and inside.

The control panel is actually painted not an overlay. The name KYODO comes up on the screen in attract mode.

I was very pleased when I got it to see it's in near mint condition and working 100%. Not sure if anyone has seen one of these before. I sure haven't.

Anyone with any knowledge on this machine please share. :)

Great find! I wonder if it is actually licensed or a bootleg? Looks to be in fantastic shape too!

I once had a Kyodo 4-stack Donkey Kong PCB. Japanese ROMs with the "NINTENDO 1981" copyright on the title screen.

I was thinking maybe Kyodo is a Japanese convenience store like 7-11 and they brand the games in their stores? Just a guess.

The Kyodo DK PCB was constructed somewhat differently than the Nintendo PCBs, the connectors were at a different angle IIRC. I'd imagine they're a bootlegger or a company that others licensed games to for certain regions. E.g., I've seen a legitimate licensed Tehkan Donkey Kong.

What's the extra button for on the CP, another game?

How does the romset play, like regular Galaxian?

Cool stuff!

Very similar profile to a Taito Trimline.

Boardset looks like the dual-layer Galaxian set that I've seen before (and have a DC operated version off)

You took the words right out of my mouth. There were a number of games similar to Galaxian that used two boards stack like that. Makes perfect sense for a Japanese game.
