Kurz Kasch project anyone?

I can't seem to locate which line is the composite video. There is the power plug of course, then there's a line leading to an Atari Joystick. Then there are two other lines.
One would have to be video out..the other I'm thinking is a 5v output or something. I opened the unit up but I'm just not seeing where composite video comes from.

THANK YOU for keeping stuff in your archive watermark-free.

The only reason I was considering watermarking them was to keep people from claiming that they were the ones to bring this forth to the community... and no, I'm not referring to JRR.

JRR, I have all of this, we still need to hook up on getting this stuff up on your site.

I know different people have different opinions on the matter. I wished to keep things positive, so I simply thanked John for his policy, rather than criticize the opposing point of view.

Of course, it's my opinion that it's counterproductive to penalize the 99.9% of good, normal, respectful users (by subjecting them to a watermark) due to the actions of the other 0.1%.

The small (but growing) amount of information I have contributed to the community (at http://www.finck.net/arcade/ ) is free from watermarks or other adulteration. I encourage others to do the same, and am most appreciative of those who do so.

Am I missing something ? Who would bother to claim they were the one that made a scan available when it wasn't really them ? And who would care if someone did claim it ? I sent quite a few to be scanned, not even sure how many but it was a lot. If anyone wants to pretend to be the person that sent them, feel free.

Hi John,

Happy to help with data where I can. I don't bogart much... just where my honey holes are for parts. :D

Unless it has some current copyright (which the KK stuff does not) you're fine.

I don't have the test fixture but have a SIG2. I couldn't find any pdf on it at flippers but did find it somewhere.

https://www.dropbox.com/s/iqya9z96otadj0r/KK-Signature2.pdf?dl=0

will remove link if I am breaking some code.
My dropbox link was broken so fixed it. Also included in the sig2.pdf is this

Channelmanic or John. I don't see many of the below on the flippers.com website. Is it possible to get links to these files? Also, it is noted in above docs that 6502A NOP adapter should be used with Atari games. Anyone ever seen info on this adapter and why it and the signatures of 6502a would be different than 6502?

Ive always used a 6502 nop for atari. Works fine on my hp sig analyzer.

If anyone has a decent unit to trade i have some other test stuff to trade for it.

Maybe that is more to do with the KK unit than the cpu itself. Simple check, but my shit is packed away and i go by the 6502 table not the "a" table as listed.

I use a hp 5006a

Found the answer to "special" atari 6502 noop adapter here https://pairlist7.pair.net/pipermail/techtoolslist/2009q1/000661.html

John R. and Pat D. are both on this thread which is an interesting read.

John, your ftp directory ftp://ftp.flippers.com/TTL/ is basically empty unless I need a different username.

"OK Guys,

A 6502 NOP will not produce sig's that match Atari doc's.
Reason is the 6502 takes two clock cycles to do a NOP instruction.
The Cat Box takes one clock cycle.
So you get double readings of each address. All you need to do is make
an NOP using a couple of counter IC's to cycle through the address range
on each clock cycle. Or divide the clock by 2 and use this as your clock
connection for the Analyzer. You can do this with one D type flip flop IC.

"Thanks for the info Tim.

I've made a new NOP adapter today that just uses a pair of LS393s as a
16 bit counter as per the CAT box schematics and am now getting Atari
signatures!

Martin. "

>>edit>> better thread that details adding the clock divider to get atari sigs

Nice. Ive always matched. What are using?

Were you reading just the signatures of the CPU or of test points in the atari troubleshooting guide? If just the sigs on the CPU, then I suspect they will match a normal 6502 nop which, I guess, only verifies the CPU is good. I have a KK sig2 which should give same results as hp5004 but I can't prove that :). Haven't built a 6502 nop yet but it is next on my to do list.

check this thread out which states the 6502 nop signatures do not match atari cat box sigs using HP5004. I think there are documents floating around that do have the (non catbox) 6502 signatures though.
http://www.vectorlist.org/TechTools/2002/10/0035.html

anyway this is probably old news to the old timers but new to me.

Yup these discussions seem to happen every few years and the same info is pulled up. Which isn't a bad thing.

I believe there is some guides on jess askeys site for; bz, asteroids and AD using the 5004/5006 and catbox. I prefer the hp units (match catbox) not familiar with KK.

http://gamearchive.askey.org/Video_Games/Manufacturers/Atari/signatures/

As long as you do the same measurement points or have a known working board to work from in addition, a sig is a sig and you can make your own guide so to speak.

I know we are getting off OP topic....
re. http://gamearchive.askey.org/Video_Games/Manufacturers/Atari/signatures/
Awesome bit of info there! I was just there doing more reading while you posted.

I am holding out confirmation that hp5004/6 sigs match documented atari catbox sigs at this point. The docs written by Peter Fyfe appear to be for 5004 using a standard 6502 nop. So no doubt sigs from hp5004/6 should match his docs. My kk will likely match as well but I will verify this later.

Peter's guides for Lunar Lander, Asteroids, and Asteroids DLX had to be written as ,based on my reading, Atari didn't start including the cat box sigs on schematics until Battlezone.

My theory is, neither KKSig2 or HP should match Atari document w/o a modified 6502 NoP. Easy enough to verify...eventually if I /someone gets around to it.

There is a text file that when you open gives you the new FTP site address...you have to work a bit, and it confuses spambots and file suckers I hope!
