This past weekend was the Texas Pinball Festival in Grapevine (near Dallas). A ton of great machines, including:
- old woodrails
- em machines (Strikes & Spares)
- early solid state (Jungle Lord, Playboy, Mata Hari, etc.)
- DMD (Twilight Zone, Elvira, Hook, etc.)
- New Releases (CSI, Spiderman, Lord of the Rings, etc.)
I didn't know how long I was going to be there (snow was predicted and I didn't want to be on the road with a bunch of amateurs
) so I didn't enter any of the tournaments.
The only down side was the number of machines with problems. I know pins are fragile, but this was an unusually high number of battle wounded. There were dead flippers, lost balls, stuck balls, random resets and just plain DOA machines there. Either there were a lot of really rough players (I didn't see any) or this was just a fragile bunch of machines this year.
If you missed it, you missed a great show. If you made it, I hope you had as much fun as I did.
All in all, kudos to the Dallas krew for another great show!
