I just came across a KTN-2001 that has a burn free tube.
It's a used monitor with a mfg date of 2007.

Problem is, there's no picture.
There's power to the chassis (fuse is ok) and there seems to be power to the anode wire as well.
There's no neck glow.
No physical signs of any blown resistors or caps on the chassis.

I do already know that Kortek had the 'bad batch' issue on their post 2004 era KTN-2001's and are very problematic. I also own several KTN-2001's that ended up being just fine (luck of the draw I guess..)

Before I just scrap this chassis, I would like to try and attempt to get the chassis up and running.

Where should I start?

Thanks,

Okay, I'll try and replace the caps 1st. I wasn't suspecting the caps since it was manufactured in 2007 - but since they were so problematic, I wouldn't rule it out.

I've also already tried turning up the screen control - nothing, no white screen, no raster, no neck glow.

Something is causing the heaters to not get voltage.

SOLVED!

It turns out that it was a cold solder joint on the leads of the CR socket on the neckboard.

Resoldered - fired right up!

Does anyone know if there's a way to adjust the BLACK level on a KTN-2001?

I've adjusted the brightness on the back of the flyback and on the remote board. I've also adjusted the contrast. The colors look GREAT! Unfortunately, the BLACK level is too washed out. Am I missing an adjustment for this?
