Krylon Triple Thick on Marquee and or Back Glass?

Triple Thick

I have done this with a good degree of success on a few pinball glasses I have. Helped to save a badly messed up Cheetah glass.

A few notes:

I kept it off the clear glass as it was generally foggy/messy
A little goes a long way if you put it on thick it runs easily and generously
if you lay it thick any loose chips will float out of place

It worked well on the peeling portions and settled them back down with just a think spray
I also found I had success with spots that had pulled away from the glass.

I tested this on a worse glass I had for practice and it is like spray painting, less is more. Good luck have two more glasses a big ben and triple action waiting for treatment

Mask off the areas around the score displays and anywhere it should be clear. Use several light coats and let them dry a while in between so you avoid runs or puddles. if you are doing any touch ups, do them first.

I've used it on a few flaky bezels, and also on my Sea Wolf marquee. Looks really good. It might take a few coats. Sometimes it wants to fog up, but then you wait and put another coat on and it's ok.

I have used it to save slightly flaking glass with success. I saved my High Speed back glass and I have to save a Flash Gordon with a few spots starting to lift. Light easy coats with score windows carefully masked. Its a pretty easy process.

There was a description about using this and at some point applying Saran Wrap to the sprayed area and using a roller to get the raised areas of paint to lay back down. Is this step needed or will the bubbled areas lay back down on their own?

It was mentioned to touch it up prior to putting on the triple thick. One website I read on doing pinball backglasses said to triple thick then use water based paints to touch it up. That way you could always remove the paint and redo it, etc. Anyone do it that way? I haven't used the triple thick yet so wasn't sure how clear it is and what it would look like touching up afterwards.

triple thick will not dry clear, it has a frosted look when dry.

As for touchups, it depends on the condition of the backglass. If the touch up area has only cracking, you could probably touch it up before clearing. If the area has flakes falling off as you breathe, I would clear it first with the saran wrap method.

The general consensus when sealing pinball back glasses is to triple thick first and then touch up. As JODY mentioned, it's easier to wipe it off if you make any mistakes while touching up. Some posts I have read also mention that you should try to do it when humidity is low to make a better seal.
