shows how the media really doesn't know what they're talking about often times...

Just goes to show you that how much these sites know about arcade machines... ie: very little.

With a better aspect ratio screen and a marquee in that light box it would actually be pretty decent.

That's basic interior design fail.

I'm sure that phone is plugged in. ;)

It's Kotaku.

...seriously. That's all I should have to say. I stopped reading game news sites altogether about 4 years ago when everyone began subtly trying to ape their incredibly low standards. I literally chose no news at all in the medium/industry I love vs. getting frustrated reading stuff from the current outlets (Gamasutra/Giant Bomb not included...still read those :p).

The creator of that cabinet is getting all defensive in the replies. I guess if you don't want something critiqued you shouldn't post pictures of it on the internet. ;)

+1

They should write an article about some of the amazing restoration threads we got in here. Article about keeping gaming history alive or article about ugly custom multicade? Hmm.

Seriously, my iCade looks better than that thing. :)

I like the Icade Jess.

LoL at someone's comment "As functional as an alcoholic".
OMG is that really an 8-way joystick on that....

"or of course take the easy route and just drop a PC in there which is running the MAME emulator"
I think a 60-1 is far easier than a good Mame rig.

The ugly stripes are there so it doesn't blend into the wall. Otherwise he would trip over it and fall and crack his melon.

Yes, the I-cade is much cooler looking.

I don't hate this as much as some of you guys, but I can't say I like. The coffee table / cocktail this dude did a while back turned out better. Aspect ratio was wrong again and it's totally unplayable, but at least it looked cool!

I live how it says:
Being built to the Jamma standard, those who care as much about the insides as the outside can slide in any standard arcade board so long as it's got a vertical screen...
...

And
While it looks great, my favourite part is that he's built an actual working coin slot into the thing.
