I have a Kortek that has a very fuzzy picture..I think the chassis is fairly new..well its VERY clean anyway.. When its disconnected from a video source, it still sounds like its getting some rough synch signal.. Does this sound like a cap issue, or something in the horizontal osicallator?

I don't understand what the problem is... You say that when you don't have it connected to the game, you can hear the whine? That's normal. The horizontal oscillator is still running, regardless of wether it has a sync signal or not. It just won't have anything to lock into.

When it's connected, you say the picture is fuzzy... but does it stay put? If the picture stays put and doesn't get scrambled or move around on the screen, then there is nothing wrong with the sync.

Did you adjust the FOCUS control?

Ok, sorry I didnt explain this better. When its connected to a game, you hear the normal deflection chatter, theres a slight curl at the top, and the image looks almost like an old tv thats not tuned perfectly..kinda staticy. Ive messed with the focus, and cant resolve it..and its not the entire picture, just sections. Now, with no video input (wire off), the monitor sounds like the h & v synch wires are mixed up. You hear the normal chatter, but its modulated. It should be a steady whine.
