I have a rebranded sharp image/Kortek monitor. NO model number on the chassis but it is the "tan" board for a 27" tube.

I recently capped the chassis due to vertical issues. After adjustments the monitor looked great. I started to play a few games on the monitor and after it warms up, (roughly 20 minutes) the pic gets much darker, shrinks in height by 10%, and begins to wiggle (significantly) side to side like jello. This happens instantly - like flipping a switch.

I shut the monitor off immediately. I can turn it back on and the pic is fine initially but it will go back to the "wiggles" shortly after.

The monitor has an automatic degauss coil which I suspected was intermittenly degaussing. I disconnected the coil and the problem is still present. When the chassis was out for the cap kit I reflowed any questionable solder joints (but I didn't do them all)

Any ideas where to start? Thanks for your time.

Thanks for the reply Ken. I did change the main filter cap because the old one was puffy. Every electrolytic cap has been replaced. I will pull the chassis and check the main filter cap (maybe its a bum) and solder joints.

Value is ok, but I do not have an ESR meter. I will shop around or find a new friend :) Are new caps often bad from the start? Should I be checking all of them prior to installation?

Update: Finally got my ESR/Capacitance meter (shipping from Russia took awhile). I fired the monitor up (during the weeks I was waiting for my new meter) and the pic shrunk again. I let it go for about 10 seconds and it "popped" back out of its funk. I let it run for hours with no issue and its been problem free since. I must have gotten lucky. Next time the chassis is out I will definetely check the main filter cap.

Thanks for your help and patience Ken!
