Kortek KTX-26 Check this chassis out. Worth saving?

I have not really had issues with this chassis, other than it has developed a wave in the picture. I figured it was a bad main cap, so I pulled it to check it out. Here is the wave issue. Sorry for music, audio was messed up.

I pulled the chassis, and this is the underside.

Like I said, I have not had a lot of issues, but this is crazy. Is this worth messing with? I repair around the main cap in the first pic scares me the most. Thoughts?

seems kind of strange why it is like that.

i do not repair theses chassis types.

but it seems like at one time it was cracked or when the fly was replaced they may have ripped up the pads and needed to run jumpers.

to me Kortek is junk but if it is the only monitor you have then go for it.

good luck on the repair.

Ya, it is crazy. The only issue is waiving, but is it worth replacing the main cap do you think, or could it be because of the crazy repair job that power is bleeding through somewhere causing it?

i would replace all the caps.

also check to see if your ground is connected to the chassis this can cause interference as well.

disconnect it and see what happens.

check your plug to the game and see if the ground pin is intact.

you could also install an ISO and see if the problem goes away.
but this is kinda drastic, but it could work

Ground pin is good, and caps look new. I have not tested them, but there was a cap kit supposedly done right before I got the game. Probably who did this hack job. I know the ground is running from the chassis to the neck board. I am think that was the only ground.

There was a ground that ran to the monitor frame. I re-installed the monitor and left that ground off, but still the same wobble.

other than replacing the filter cap and checking all the others with a ESR meter i am out of ideas.

i hate theses chassis and what a pain they are to trouble shoot.

lets hope a Kortek guru chimes in.

Alright. I got a new main cap from Bob Roberts and installed it today. That is all I touched and now I get this.

Not sure of what i could have messed up. Any ideas, or is this one not worth the hassle?

I farted with H-Hold a bunch and could not get it any better. I will try again tonight.

you may need to re-flow the video input headers and verify that your sync is properly connected.

also verify that the video wires are good from the PCB to the monitor.

I went back and turned the H-Hold again and screen went out completely this time. Now I get nothing.

rdhanded2,
Lets get a little thread resurrection going here...........
Did you ever fix this chassis?

I recently bought a bunch of stuff from a local op, including (x6) KTX-26 monitors. One of them worked, but it has the exact same wavy issue that you show. It is exactly the same problem. I just finished a capkit, but the wave is still there. I am going to order a filter cap for it from Bob, but I figured I would check in on your progress. Thanks.

Sorry guys. Just saw this. I tapped out and took it to a local guy here. He had it going in no time but for the life of me I can not remember what he had to replace. Picture is perfect now.

I have the same issue, and the H-hold remote board does not seem to be working. Is there a replacement for the remote board? Or do I need to replace the pots? I installed a Kortek KTX-26 cap kit and I still have the same problem. What other parts do you recommend trying to replace? Any help would greatly appreciated.

If you want the problem to go away I will certainly take it on and get it In order.
seen worse damage. will mend it cleanly along with repairing your issues.

I have tried to tweek all the adjustments, on the remote control and the chassis, from the information I have read I need to replace a few more components on the chassis, I am looking for another donor chassis to have on hand...thanks for the offer and info...
