It's been about a year since I could do any arcade projects due to my shop having a collapsing ceiling. I finally have it fixed and can work again. I'm trying to get an arcade open. We have over 40 games that I'm getting up to par.

I'm currently installing a cap kit in my Ktn-2001. I would like to verify with someone that has done a cap kit in these:

C606 is listed as 4.7uf 50v. The cap I pulled is 47uf 50v (no decimal). Anyone else come across this? I'm going with it should be 4.7uf like the cap kit and schematic say, right?

Plus, C316 is has continutiy across it. Is that normal?

Thanks for any help and it's good to be working on games again.

Well, I went ahead and put in 4.7uf 50v as per the kit. All good!

This is what I learned in case anyone else sees this problem. The monitor KTN-2001 wasn't able to adjust the horizontal width like so many I've seen online. Doing a full cap kit, I found that:

C207 was in the position for CN5205. No big deal they are right next to each other and follow the same trace.

C316 was showing continuity across it. Apparently, this is normal.

C606 was a 47uf 50v and should have been a 4.7uf 50v. This is what I believe may have been causing the horizontal width to not adjust.

Hope this helps someone in the future.

I am at the moment re-capping a Kortek 2001 that came in a Jamma cab I bought. I came here searching the same exact question... my C606 is also a 47uf where the kit supplies a 4.7uf. The other two oddly placed components are the same for mine as well. (I concluded the same as you with those.) Hoping this comes up fine as well! Will update when I re-install next week.

4.7uf is the correct one. Mine looks beautiful now.

you know if your using those extremely low grade poor quality caps and running your games any length of time you will be recapping them again in a couple of years. i would recommend buying a cap kit with quality capacitors so you don't have to redo your work. there are many threads on here about BR kits and many other vendors kits where the people have to recap them even with only home use within 4-6 years. even if your not buying our kits at least buy a kit with quality caps and you will be much happier in the long run especially since you have 40 games to keep running. that was exactly why i started this about 4 years ago and only use the best quality capacitors because i have 200+ games to keep going and when i had to redo work after a couple years all over saving a couple dollars, my time was worth way more than that. it was a no brainer.

I think you might underestimate the joy I find in recapping monitors. ;)

I actually just bought from you guys to test the waters, if you will. I'll keep you in mind for kits.

Security, unless I'm mistaken you do not offer a kit compatible with the KTN-2001. At least I could not find one on your site. My apologies if my search was erroneous.
I usually get my kits from you and thus I had to go elsewhere. I myself however did purchase a Nichicon kit though.

yes we do. we have more kits than any vendor (almost 400) and that is without splitting them into sub kits. some kits are not on the site and all you need to do is ask. we added almost 30 new kits last month and have 1150 products on our site and growing daily. We work super hard to have the best quality nichicon and the NEWEST caps you will find since we order all of our direct and some take almost a year to get when ordering but hands down you won't find the same nichicon series caps we use in any other vendor kits that are selling just nichicon because they use the lowest grade VY and VZ caps while most of ours are HE, PW, CY, HW, etc..

That was me. Yup. Parts are working so far. I have a lot more to do. I'll hit you up when I gather enough for an order.

Dead KTN-2001

HI, I bought a Super Pacman upright and it has a Kortek KTN-2001 that is dead. I replaced the HOT, Hi voltage XMFR and still nothing. Does anyone know where I could send in the board for repair? any help would greatly be appreciated!
Thanks,
