Kortek KT-2901M, 29"

A friend bought two Cruis'n Exotica sit downs. Both have these monitors. One is totally dead, other works fine until you turn up the brightness, then the picture starts to collapse (strained for power.) I'm planning to tackle the dead one first.

I can't find the schematics for it. Anyone have a lead?

I will add findings to this thread to assist others that might have one of these.
 
Zanen Electronics now sells a capkit for this monitor.

Cool I told my friend so he can hopefully order two. I poked at the flyback pins and didn't see anything above 17vdc going into it. When power is removed from the monitor there is a high pitched whine that winds down.

Going to have to figure out more about the broken monitor.

Another friend said the Korteks will be a life of problems.
 
Problems for sure. I'll see if Zanen Electronics will pick up for an order and pricing to ship this way. Not a bad deal, but for some reason I'm thinking there's something else happening on this dirty board after already cleaning it up, re-soldering a handful of pins, and replacing some components.
 
So the continuation of the monitor situation... We swapped out the PCB and recapped it; however it appears this is for a larger monitor? I am informed it may be a couple of capacitors we have to change to give it the correct scan specification for the resolution. Any help is appreciated!

Hey, thanks. I contacted them and bought a cap-kit, but it didn't solve the issue on that PCB. One of the high load transistors near the flyback heats up (which I replaced the burnt out one) and creates a high pitched whine. So we managed to get two other Sharper Image boards and see the above post on the situation there.
 
Anybody have any hints at how to correct this, or with what values? It's a stretch, but we're trying to work with this board since it appears to be fully operational and just needs to be reconfigured for this monitor neck and tube.

Caveat: I'm not familiar with Sharp Image chassis, so take this with a grain of salt.

Since it's vertically almost perfect, I doubt it. I see the adjustment pot spots aren't populated, which means there should be a remote board. The monitor should have a small board at the end of a fairly long bunch of wires (or sometimes a ribbon cable) populated with a number of pots -- you should be able to dial that picture in with those. If the board is missing, you're in trouble...

After playing with the picture adjustment board this is the best it gets. The fellow who gave us the board informed us it goes to a larger tube and might need some caps replaced to alter the scan values for the right setting. I am not sure how the capacitive values alter the picture in such a way, but I will continue to try researching this!
