Eric Howard's machine was the first to reach killscreen and now the first to be auctioned off. He was also the only one who stole his name tag off of the front,

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=190515826322

The auction includes;
A Fully restored DK machine used in the Kong Off (#3 of 12)
A special marquee and Bezel signed by the top DK players
An official "The Kong Off" T- Shirt
An Official "The Kong Off" Rickey's Hot Sauce
other surprise items.

This also marks the first time Richie Knucklez' Arcade Games has ever hocked an item over here on KLOV. I usually know better but this is such a great chance to own a piece of arcade history I had to share with my KLOV brethren. That and I promised my girls a trip to Disney!

Great event Richie and thanks for sharing here.

Definitely a cool item. If I had unlimited cash, I might take a shot at one of these. Good luck with the auction and the Disney.

I had a blast at the event. I picked up a DK for $125 on craigslist on the way home so I'll stick to restoring that one :)

good luck with the sale! Enjoy Disney!

DK

Premium price for a game that comes with hot sauce, tshirt, and inked marquee!

Would have been fun if you had started it at $.99.. Good luck on the sale.. Nice looking game.

Eric Howard has played my DK a bunch of times and put up a score of about 650k on it. Maybe I should auction it. :D

Good luck, Richie! Was quite the event. You really deserve a lot of credit for pulling that event off. I was quite impressed!

I don't think mentioning your Ebay auction here actually constitutes selling it here....:p

...about as historical as a Franklin Mint commemorative plate.

Depends on your perspective. If you are a big fan of the movie or the competitive arcade scene in general, this was an enormously historical event capped by it being the first time Billy and Steve played head to head (essentially), live.

To get this done, this long after Billy was tearing up the Twin Galaxies arcade back at the Life Magazine shoot is a huge testament to Richie and his crew and their perseverance.

There are folks who buy games at retail completely restored for four bills and if they are fans of the movie it is a great conversation piece to have. As Richie stated he doesn't sell on KLOV as he understands the target audience, but was just giving a heads up to the auction.

The event is all the way historical though and judging by the turnout and the fact that I could hardly move around at the arcade that weekend, a lot of others agreed.

I'll be shocked if you can sell all 12 for 2500.00 a piece but good luck

If I had unlimited cash

2500$ for a restored DK?

Premium price

...and judging from these comments, I'm sure it is likely to be your last too. Come on guys, really? Good luck with the sale, that is a cool package.

This was a machine, that someone played donkey kong on, that didn't win the contest, in which a record wasn't broken. HM.

It's already got a bid. I never understood why a restoration community would not be pleased when a restored game produces a high end sale via the general public.

Really nit picky aren't you??

Mentioning his Ebay auction doesn't constitute selling here, for crying out loud he didn't even list it in the FS section....sensitive for Richie much?

A restoration community IS pleased to see a restored game go for a high price, this one has a story behind it to propel it to it's higher price, not the restoration itself.

Because when I try to buy busted up machines to fix, they think it must be worth 1250$ if a nice restored one is worth 2500.

I don't get why everyone is being an ass about this?

The machine is completely restored, and was used by the best players in the biggest competition to date. If that isn't worth a premium, I'm not sure what is.

You guys would probably shit on an auction for like, Jimi Hendrix' guitar or something. "Pfft, I got one of those last week for $50".

We are all jaded when it comes to prices for games because we see them sell for almost nothing all the time. That's just part of the hobby.

Good luck with the sale.
