hi all.. my Silent Scope Ex stopped working.. i get this led codes.. who knows what that means and how can i fix it. new timekeeper didn't fix it.

thanks

As near as I can see, these are not codes. If Viper does not go to picture, its usually either the CF is having issues, which I see more and more now. Or the CPU (BGA) has come loose. This happens pretty much all the time now especially if game is shipped. I am only shop I know of on the planet that works on Viper and these are the two things I see about 99.9% of the time. To confirm BGA Issue, just put light pressure on it during boot to see if any change in LEDs. If so, its loose. Usually just a cracked ball. If no change, I would attack CF or its caddy.

i tried other game cf cards but same led light show.. pressing on the cpu doesn't fix it too.. 😩

I know it says use top slot on CF but did you try both? They both work. I guess the only other thing that I have seen kill system is if someone decided to remove RTC but should not have been doing that kind of work and basically tore it from PCB. Any opens to RTC can kill set. Rare someone tries to do this but I have seen it a couple times. I have never seen RTC its self kill system though. Kind of odd but i guess it just not fail with opens on address or data lines internally.
If no go either CF slot, I would have to say CPU is loose and pads oxidized enough to prevent ball contact when pressed on. Usually in this case its almost never repairable since you cannot remove oxidation to get ball to reflow.

i tried both cf-slot.. normally the bottom slot is the default one.. rtc is socket wirh fresh new battery.. i programmed the timekeeper well with sscopex nvam file.. burned also a new cf card wirh the UA region.. seems for EA is no nvram file available..

i tried an other pcb with the additional connectors build in.. but also no luck.. with the mame image i got the message "security code error" with the original cf card i got only a blue screen.. game hangs on boot up 😩

image.jpgIt's working again 😻 but a bit complicated process.

I desoldered the one-wire eprom and got the key with an Arduino script. Swapped the eprom to an other working pcb and generated a new NVRAM with MAME. Burn a new timekeeper and it plays again
