Hey, I'm considering buying a Konami game with the RTC error. I know this means the RTC chip is dead, but... what significance does this have? Is there any way around it? I found a replacement of the original chip (http://www.mouser.com/ProductDetail/STMicroelectronics/M48T58Y-70PC1/?qs=k9dH/x4GHJDIJZYAfkeDkA==)-- if I solder that on, would the game get past the error, or would I have to program it with a given EPROM? I can handle soldering but rom burning would be too far for me. Thanks in advance, trying to decide whether this purchase is worth it... as much as I hate to say it it's looking like it might not be, heheh...

Ah, sorry, I thought that was in the post but I was wrong, my bad. The game is Teraburst, non-deluxe, if that makes a difference. Thanks

Many of those have to be programmed with code that is specific to your version of the game (UAA, etc...)

Ouch... is there anyone on here who can do that kind of thing, and is too horribly expensive? I don't want to get too far in over my head for a game that's only a decent deal...

I can program the chips... but I don't have the code for that game.

Thanks for being willing and for explaining so much... I see now that trying to fix that bugger would *not* be easy, and I haven't the first clue where to look for code to put on the EPROM, so I guess I'll skip it. Thanks for saving me before I jumped into a repair that was way over my head, haha.
