I just got a Konami Dead Eye PCB and am wondering if there is anything special about the guns that this board uses.
I have a couple of Happ .45 Cal guns that I have been using on my Maximum Force and Deer Hunting USA boards without issue for the last couple of months. I didn't see Dead Eye listed as one of the boards that these guns support on Happs site, but it does list Konami's Lethal Enforcers, so I thought maybe Dead Eye was just not listed because it is (at least to me) a fairly obscure title.
I got a manual with it and checked the gun connections against the wiring from my guns and it looked to be a match (4 wires, +5v, trigger, ground, optic, all in the same order) and I hooked the gun up. I didn't have any real issues with the trigger, the screen flashed when it was pulled, but it wouldn't register any hits. I went into the test mode and did the gun allignment (shoot 5 boxes, corners and center of screen) and when I shot the last one the board appeared to reset and I started to smell something burning. I looked at the gun and smoke was coming out of the back (actually it looked like it had just been fired). I quckly cut the power and opened the gun up. I fried a cap, at least, and there was chared bits of it around the optic board but there isn't any other components that appear damaged. I'll replace the cap and see if it works tomorrow.
I want to know: does this PCB write some data to the optic board after it does an allignment? Is this type of gun compatable? Did I have a component fail coincidentally when I finished the allignment?
Any help is apriciated.
Brian.
