It isn't listed on the home page, but there is a new (not-open-to-the-public-just-for-forums-members-right-now) tool at:
http://www.ace.com/iam/

It automatically searches all 9 eBay Arcade and Pinball categories and grabs the top items in each. "Top" is very subjective, especially to a computer program, but what I did was to limit the report to auctions that already had bids on them.

I'll probably have the report run a few times throughout the day. You can click "Add to Wishlist" to automatically add to the eBay wishlist (not vaps wishlist). Click on the item # to bring up the item on eBay if you want a closer look.

Within each category, the default view is price (from most expensive to cheapest). You can click on price repeatedly to toggle direction. You can also click on # of bids and ending date to temporarily sort the category on those fields.

So what did the report do for me tonight?

Things I found interesting on the report tonight:

1974 'The Safe' - Safe Cracking (non-video) game
A dedicated Major Havoc (already $3600 and 3+ days to go)
A 300-in-1 Jamma Board
Atari PAT 9000 Test Fixture
Taito Bench Tester Unit w/cables
Penguin Pinball Dolly (a model I hadn't seen before)

Check it out and let me know what you think...

Thanks,

Greg

Cool summary.

First thought after using it: Is there a way to pull/list where the item is located?

I tried it, saw an Alien Poker at $300 with 14 hours to go and went wow, that's a fun game... then clicked through and saw it was way far away from me. It'd be nice to see the location up front.

price and distance are key to me

I've got another suggestion if you're still looking to add features. One I'd really like is a search that only includes one result from each seller, or at least remove duplicates. Another thing that would be nice is to be able to search for multiple items from the same seller.

I get annoyed by having to sift through the same 100s of listings by the same seller whenever I go to search for anything common (I'm looking for camera batteries right now). Of course there's over 500 items, and every page has at least 5 of the same thing from each seller. I can probably assume that every page is gonna be the same stuff, but it'd be nice to see maybe 80 or so unique listings and pick the best of them.

I'm also looking for batteries for two different camera models, and a lot of the places sell batteries for just about all camera models, so it'd be really nice if I could put in the two models I'm looking for, and get results from any seller that has both.

Oh... another thing I'd like is to be able to exclude a category. One thing I've found is looking for SRAM (Static RAM) chips... people don't really know where to put them (usually in Business & Industrial, sometimes in Computers & Networking, other places sometimes)... anyway, that's not a big deal since there's so few everywhere except Cycling, which is what I DON'T want (nobody is going to mistakenly put them there). If I could exclude the Cycling category, that'd give me 29 results instead of 649.

Not sure if anyone else would like those features, but there have been quite a few times when I've been annoyed by the lack of search power on ebay.

You raised some interesting points. I'll look into how to do a system wide search that excludes a specific category, etc.

That would be sweet... I was just fighting it again a few nights ago >_< .
