I'm a long ago arcade game collector, with only 2 of my games left in my gameroom. I sold most off back in the late 90's early 2000's. I had a completely irrational thought this weekend, of butchering my original Ms Pac into a Multicade JAMMA, and cut holes for buttons , chop up harnesses, etc. I had no idea this was an inexcusable action until I posted my plans here. And after some thought, and some friendly tongue lashings, have found other ways to accomplish my desire of more game variety, and leaving my game in original condition.
You folks here have saved a Ms Pac from the butcher , just think... if you just saved one life, it was worth your effort, and you my friends are all Pac Man hero's !!!

Seriously, gonna do the Ms Pac kit that uses all the original harnesses and is plug and play. That way ,some day, the game can be put back to original .

That isn't bad is it?, and I breaking the unspoken rules of hacking an original, Hope I am no longer in trouble with the purist in here :)

Obviously having fun, but glad you all made me look at other options.

Nice going JP!
I got my lumps a few years back when I almost multi'ed an R-Type.

But now I'm reborn and have seen the light. LOL

as someone with a relatively small game collection (and very limited budget) i get the desire for the multi thing

but you made the right choice with keeping your OG game from becoming some kinda hideous multi-nightmare

it's not my style but if you really wanted a multi-game kinda cab there's plenty of them out there that have been fabricated from scratch that you can track down (or make if you're crafty)

you did the right thing man. mad props.

Not only can you buy plug and play multi kits for your pac but Phoenix arcade ( and probably others ) sells multi control panels to fit a pac so you don't have to hack yours up - just swap control panels .

I make and sell these if it helps. This plus a new power supply and a 60 in one board are all you need in a pac or ms pac cab. It even uses the original player 1 and 2 buttons on your control panel for fire, jump, etc, so no hacking the control panel. Then it can always be returned to the original thing if you want it to be. :)

Yeah this is what I've done. You can get the ms pac to jamma converter which can convert your Ms Pac to a jamma without any modifications... and you can get a pre-cut or blank CP that fits the cab. I've got my old Ms Pac board and CP stored away and I can just swap them back in at any time to have the original machine in tact.

So that raises this question:
Can I get the Ms Pac 60 in 1 conversion kit ,that uses the original wiring harness ( plug and play) , then purchase a 412 in 1 Jamma PCB and plug it into the conversion adapter ( in place of the 60 in 1) , then add the few extra buttons using a aftermarket cp ?
Or is the 60 in 1 in the kit PCB not compatible with the 412 in 1 PCB pin outs ? Seems it would be missing the wiring for the extra buttons, or would need a new JAMMA harness.
Did that make sense?
Thanks,
JP

Get a Jamma to Ms. Pac harness adapter, then you won't have to worry about it. You'll be able to swap any Jamma board in, and just remove the adapter if you want to go back to stock.

IGGY, That's great news !!! I'll start putting together my list of materials to begin this conversion. Think I will start with a new aftermarket cp and the conversion kit at first. Then I can easily replace the 60 in 1, to a 412 in 1, in the future.
Thanks everyone for the help, things have changes a lot since 1993 when I had a nice arcade game collection. There was either no JAMMA, or wasn't as wide spread as it is now, don't remember it being around.

The adapters usually include pins for the extra buttons.
