klov northeast chapter meet?

Thanks again to VintageGamer and Sentient for organizing! I must have ducked out just before the group photo was taken and I wont let that happen next time. It was great meeting all the new folks and seeing the familiar KLOVer faces again. Crabtowne was the perfect location and I cant wait to go back!

I jokingly said at that point that we'll just have to make note of those folks, and photoshop an 'altered' version of them into the group shot later.

Please do! I kept my nametag, I'll have to take a picture of myself wearing the tag and the same clothes that day! (Maybe not the clothes part, but I'll definitely have the nametag on)

I'm really sorry I missed this outing - sounds like a great time had by all. I did, however, have a good time at Great Wolf Lodge with the wife & kids. Let's do another outing in a couple months. I'll be sure and make that one!

For those that were impressed by me putting not only the crap I brought but a megatouch upright in the trunk of my car...hows about a 47in big screen? :)

Car is earning some serious brownie points this week.

Good to finally put some faces with names, I stayed until closing at Sentients Place (Past 11PM) Wife actually enjoyed the night out as well even though she hung out in the Theatre Room most of the night!! Looks like Crabtowne was a good time as well, I'll definitely have to make it out to that place soon.

One thing I don't get is why Crabtowne doesn't actually advertise an arcade anywhere outside? Their sign says nothing, and I don't think there were any other markings. I would just assume its some seafood place and drive by.

Incidentally I got the Megatouch working! Monitor still needs a cap kit but after tinkering I got it to have a stable pic and got the board working. Good thing I checked it out first there was about 500 piece of various metal bits all over the place in there (screws, lock pieces from coin door, etc).

Also interesting is the fact that the coin mech is an electronic coin controls, set up for EUROS!! Whoda thunk!

The attached pic has soooooooooooooo much Photochop potential. :D

(I promise it won't be me doing it, Rip)

Many thanks for helping me out with the afterparty....pizzas and all(every slice was chomped):) All most all the beer was consumed as well (about 3 1/2 cases all in all):) Glad your wife enjoyed the theater ( I know she liked the flics in there):) We should all meet up at the Realm sometime soon :)

I want to thank VG and Sentient for a wonderful time. I can't wait till the next time.

When is the next get together?

I also want to thank anyone and everyone for helping plan this.

I though the next get together was at Richie Knuckles Arcade (rknucklez)??

Pictures HERE

At the beginning of this thread Richies was one of the possible locations (his March tournament was suggested) But it was decided that the CrabTown would be the first gathering then at Richies. Many people from further away in North Jersey, PA and NY as well as others that couldn't make it this time said they were up for that.

While I don't want to speak for Richie he did offer his place earlier in this thread, and know his prices for unlimited play are normally very cheap (probably less than we spent in quarters) While I will be there, I'm not sure if his March tournament is the best date unless people want to compete since some games are reserved and its very busy.

So while I know it will be a longer ride for those real close to the CrabTown, some of us made a 2+ hour drive for this time, so people should be able to come up, and it would allow others from further north to attend.
Plus, it would be at a KLOV members arcade, on games that are in great shape and working.

What does everyone think??

I definitely think that is a fair request, MM- According to Richie's link, it shows that his 2010 contest weekend is 3/18-3/21.

I can't say at this time if I could definitely go or not, as it took a month of requesting and re-requesting for me to be able to get coverage for my 2 little ones for the Crabtowne gig. But if I can swing it I will definitely go.

He did say if the tournament date didn't work, it could be another weekend that he is not booked, we would have to check if that offer is still good...
If I don't have any parties booked on the Saturday you guys choose I would be more than happy to host... just bring the beers.. I'll supply the games.
I just bought a ton of new titles too. good times good times

Like I mentioned above his tournament is probably not the best time unless people are coming for multiple days and competing. Many games are reserved for tournament play, and its very busy. I would suggest if people want to do this, to pick a weekend for just all of us (and his regulars) if he is up for that.

I'm going to the tournament just to watch, its amazing to see people play for an hour straight flipping the scores.

Sorry 'bout that, I missed your comment regarding probably avoiding the tournament for a group gathering.

Since it worked out well to give a month's advance time for Crabtowne, it would probably good then, IMO, to shoot for the weekend of 3/27 (the Sat after the tournament).

One further update I just remembered: if I recall correctly, there is also an auction in PA on 3/27 (Allentown possibly? or York?).

My only comment at this time is to maybe start a new thread about the next gathering. If only to give the rest of the forum members a break from seeing this thread for a while.. LOL :)
