KLOV Members with Comcorders that Record there Game Rooms and game Play

I'm really thinking about getting a Nice Camcorder for Recording my game Room and my Game Play.

What does everyone use I've noticed buy anything good your going too have too spend 400 for just the camcorder.

what are the best too buy and so on? How easy is it too get the video's on Youtube?

Mid to high range compact cameras can do amazing jobs as camcorders. Price range around $250. Example: panasonic zs3. I used it for all my vids after may 2009. I'm assuming the replacement model works as good if not better.

Look for madmyerstube on YouTube. [Update] See http://www.youtube.com/MadMyersTube, especially the pin videos [/Update]

I am not saying a camcorder will not be better... But less expensive options work great in many situations. A camcorder will almost certainly have faster focus and keep focus better while zooming.

FYI, there is a bunch of info on my web site about the zs3. [Update] See http://www.aaarpinball.com/Miscellaneous/dmczs3.htm[/Update]

Here are a couple of walk-throughs videos I did of my gameroom with some point and click pocket cameras.

1st one was done with a Nikkon Coolpix that cost $150 in 2005.

2nd one was done with a Canon Powershot 95S that cost $380 in 2010.

The Nikkon was horrible, and I used the heck out of it. It took about 3 or 4 seconds to take a picture after you pressed the button.

When it finally broke, I got the Canon 95S which is awesome, does HD video, and has stereo built-in mics. Takes great pictures and has all kinds of smart focus features. Only takes half a second to take the picture after you press the button.

My video's are shot using a Samsung 12.2MP digital camera. Wal-Mart special. Any decent brand camera with a decent SD card will do nowadays. I got mine for free in a contest but I think it was on clearance for $75 at the time. Before that I was using a flip camera that also did a good job, again just a cheap camera.

The main goal would be too record games and send them into TG for World Records or High Scores.

YouTube time limit per video is 15 minutes. Uploading is easy. If you run long, you can always split it up into parts using windows movie maker.

I have the same Powershot series model mentioned above -- mine is the S1100 IS. You should be able to get it for under $75 on the 'bay at this point. The image stabilizer is really nice, and it takes GREAT video.

Here's a vid I took on the LOWEST setting for my cam:

For TG stuff, I'd install the camera software, set it on a tripod, and record directly to the computer's hard drive instead of a memory card. You'll get great image resolution, and your only limitation will be the size of your hard drive.

I have the Kodak playsport which is the same as the zi8 but a different body style and it's waterproof! I specifically bought it to record tubing and jet skiing.

Gets great ratings and i absolutely love it. I take it everywhere i go incase i have a "videotaping" moment. :)

Search for "swolgam" on youtube to see some of the video quality. A few of my videos were shot with a flip however. Any video uploaded in 2010 i believe was shot with the playsport.

EDIT: YOU NEED TO SEE THE STILLS THIS CAN TAKE AS WELL. VERY IMPRESSED WITH WALKING AND CLICKING AND VERY CLEAR PICTURES!

TY for the detailed post.. I went there and read everything.. Seems like everyone is going with one setup for recording there games. But they have found out recently that it shuts down after 12 hours of Recording time... I don'nt need that much time at the moment but that is something too think about before buying it. I did a Post about this about 4 months ago and asked about recording for TG i did'nt get much of a respond from it.

Now imcome Tax is coming I'm really looking into this.

It's cool too read posts from the greatest players in the world!!

Yes i know Richies Kong OFF is coming up! At the moment i would'nt go there for just that. I'm just a 216k DK Player that will not cut it on that weekend.
I'm not sure what the time limit is on You Tube now... I'm guessing your vids are gonna run at least 45min-1hour or more (each)... so You'll probaly want to use Vimeo. A one hour vid will take about 3 hours to completely load...

For TG you'll just put the vid on disc...

Why didn't ya' just say that in the first place?!

I knew that AND I'm gonna try to point you in the right direction on this stuff...

You should really be over at Classic Arcade Gaming DC asking this stuff... That's where you'll get all the info for TG WR attempts and guidance on the logistics, etc.

Anyway, there are a few threads, I recall, over there I'm gonna try to dig up that'll hopefully help you... as far as type of cam to use... etc. I'll post them as I find them... Good Luck.

Also heard something about a Kong-Off at Dick Knuckle-Head's in March... somethin' you might want to check into... http://www.classicarcadegaming.com/forums/index.php/topic,3045.0.html

Here's a thread on possibly submitting Webcam Recordings to TG.

I have a Kodak Zi8 that works well but I rarely use. It's easier and faster to shoot video with my Droid X phone. Shoots low quality QCIF all the way up to 720p HD. Love it.
