This is just a friendly messageboard high score competition.

The game in question is Moon Patrol.

You must achieve your score during the competition, which runs from 10/22 and ends sunday evening 10/28 at roughly midnight central time. No using your old score from last year. Current and former Twin Galaxies world record holders on Moon Patrol are not eligible to win this contest, although they are encouraged to submit a score for exhibition purposes.

Please attempt to photograph your score in some manner if you can.

Dip switches must be set to 3 lives and a bonus life at 10000, 30000 and 50000.

Mame, real pcbs and multiboards are all appropriate platforms to play the game on. Any version is fine on real hardware provided it doesn't have any cheats installed.

No mame cheats, games achieved using emulator save states or modified roms please.

Please post your scores in this thread. Go ahead and post your score even if it isn't competitive with the others (I know mine won't be).

Winner of the competition may select the game for the next competition. I suggest you go ahead and post your selection for the next game when you post your score, that way I don't have to have any delay between contests. Please try to stick to common titles or titles available on the 60 in 1 or 19 in 1 boards in order to maximize the number of people who can participate. If you pick something obscure that gets no buzz then I reserve the right to replace the selection.

You are also certainly encouraged to use this thread to post your Moon Patrol tips, tricks, stories and technical information.

My Moon Patrol is a Williams multi board have to check the settings.

OK, I'm in for this one... 81,240

I love Moon Patrol, but its been a while since I played. I had a decent game going, then screwed up 3 times right in the same spot. Here is the last couple minutes of the game.

Another game that I have not played before. I have been trying a few games in Mame and enjoying it. Finally made it past Point Z, nice variety of obstacles and enemies, 50,600 so far. Going to have to check out and see what other games Irem developed.

Been under the weather this week so I played a game tonight in case I'm sleeping through most of the weekend. Took me a few loops to remember how to play again, been awhile.

Alpine Ski is my choice should that occur.

Post a pic of your final score, you're still showing 2 guys left.
I'm practicing, but don't want to waste my time. ;)

Heh, attract mode shows the starting men, I wasn't quick enough with print screen during game over.

Doh, sorry about that. I was almost sure I was looking at shenanigans. lol

Shenanigans are best left to the CAGDC forums :)

I have a 500k or so score up on Twin Galaxies and Aurcade I think from various outbursts of patrolling the yellow rock.

I'm very rusty and so far only got 80k. I just wanted to chime in as a participant and I hope to get some time to get a few more games in over the weekend and try and get my skills back. Excellent game choice by the way!

Same here... I had only lost one guy at the point I screwed up on the second course. I just forgot the pattern I used then screwed up 3 times right in the same place.

We're getting ready to get pounded by this frigging hurricane so I haven't been messing around in the gameroom.

I know I'm past the deadline but it didn't really matter for me since I knew I had little chance of topping Steve W's 419k with only a week to work on it. My best ever is 334k, which I did at the Battle of the Arcades back in March. I procrastinated too long this week and then got too busy since Wednesday to put any time into it.

I went to GaryMcT's Halloween party today and figured I'd get in a game there. I played one game:

That's a pretty good warmup game for me.

I haven't played Moon Patrol seriously since March while learning it for the Battle of the Arcades and think I'd played only a couple of games at Dorky's in Tacoma this summer since then. When I'm done with Mario Bros. I wanna get back to this one. I'll never be world record material on Moon Patrol but I'd at least like to top Eric Ginner's golden era record of 740k.
