This is just a friendly messageboard high score competition.

The game in question is Galaxian.

You must achieve your score during the competition, which runs from 10/01 and ends sunday evening 10/07 at roughly midnight central time. No using your old score from last year. Current and former Twin Galaxies world record holders on Galaxian are not eligible to win this contest, although they are encouraged to submit a score for exhibition purposes.

Please attempt to photograph your score in some manner if you can.

Dip switches must be set to 3 lives with bonus life at 7000.

Mame, real pcbs and multiboards are all appropriate platforms to play the game on. Namco version should be used if using mame. Any version is fine on real hardware provided it doesn't have a fast shoot cheat or anything similar.

No mame cheats, games achieved using emulator save states or modified roms please.

Please post your scores in this thread. Go ahead and post your score even if it isn't competitive with the others (I know mine won't be).

Winner of the competition may select the game for the next competition. I suggest you go ahead and post your selection for the next game when you post your score, that way I don't have to have any delay between contests. If you pick something obscure that gets no buzz then I reserve the right to replace the selection.

You are also certainly encouraged to use this thread to post your Galaxian tips, tricks, stories and technical information.

I'm in on this one.

You go, girl!! It's gonna be a pleasure putting a space bug up your ass on this one...

I will be setting up live streaming for my attempts (fug it! Can never get a good pic) on the Galaxian cabaret... direct from the Bri-O-Sphere 2.1 Arcade!

Good luck, Y'all!!

No worries... with phet playing, you won't be last place.

Just to get the ball rolling, I'll just post my new personal high in the new age of gaming... I wish it would keep the flags up after the game... well, I was at 24 or 25.

This is just a start. I plan on getting into the 100k club before this is all over...

Nice monitor old man. I thought Outer Space was supposed to be black?
Oh man, don't hit me with those negative waves so early in the morning...

I've tried to adjust it... I'm sure it needs a cap kit, or whatever...

Damn it, Phet, I'm a player... not a collector/restorer!

Turn the screen down on the flyback. I am guess that is a K4600 montior by the tell tail overscan.

Is it true that Galaxian PCBs had two difficulties? I swear, I can almost never pass level 1.

Honestly Galaxian is wicked difficult for younger people who grew up in the era where shooters were more about dodging than aiming.

Are you saying you can't beat first wave of ships?

You mean bullet hell games like Ikagura? I don't see how galaxian is difficult at all. Play some gaplus, that is hard!

Well, you can't really say I grew up in era where [modern game stereotype] because I am not exposed to the modern games (never play one, demo one, etc. let alone like them). Funny thing is, Galaxian is crazy hard for me but Gaplus isn't bad.

What parsec can you get to in gaplus?
