KLOV confessional.

That happens more than you think it does. I've seen(and probably saved) pictures from scenes like that. Yeah, I'm a morbid fucker. From what I hear as accounts from those present, you may as well burn your clothes if they pick up the smell, as it will never come out.

The thing about that Missile Command story.... if it didn't have screen burn before, it sure did after. :(

I would imagine that after two years some of the stench would be gone and the body would be nearly completely decomposed to skeletal remains.

A week later in the summer, yeah, burn your clothes. No smell like it.

But two years I think you'd be in the clear maybe. But I suppose there are a lot of other environmental factors being inside a home/maggot infestations/etc.

You'd be surprised. We have to assume that the windows are closed, otherwise the smell would permeate outside and the authorities called much sooner.

So, in an enclosed area, that smell isn't going away. In fact, it's likely the entire structure would have to be torn down to get rid of it.

From what I understand, though.... a body that's absorbed water is the worst(smell wise). I remember reading a case of some girl who killed herself in the tub(a rather large one), and the faucet was dripping HOT water. Literally cooked her like a stew. When authorities finally got in(weeks later), the "meat" was literally falling off of the bones. Quite possibly one of the grossest stories I've ever come across.

The guys(or gals) that do that sort of work have to have the strongest stomachs on the planet. Hell, I've got a strong stomach, and I'm not sure I could handle that.

I saw a really interesting video (I'll have to find it again) about how there's an epidemic in Japan right now of single elderly people dying in their homes and not being found, sometimes for weeks to years. There's a budding industry there for cleanup crews that come in on damage control and deal with the rotting corpses and other issues (sometimes food was left out, fridges have stopped, etc). It's crazy that it's such an issue there that there's a place for a body removal industry, but that's how it is  The video I'd seen was an interview with the owner of one of those services, but here's a good article with similar info:

a good read about a bizarre and sad phenomena.

Ya they're called the body snatchers. Not sure how they do it either, but they'll come in and scoop up brains and skull fragments and everything. Not sure how they do it either.

a good read about a bizarre and sad phenomena.

It is sad. These are people who literally had no family that would check up on them, no friends, etc. These generally aren't people living out in the middle of nowhere, but in communities with lots of people around them. It really says a lot about societies as a whole where this type of thing can go on, and in fact, no be rare at all.

There was a rumor/tale of families who would drop their elderly family members off in the Aokigahara forest for them to die, so they didn't have to deal with them.

They pretty much all have screen burn because the ground and the cities are always in the same spot on the monitor.

Just completely ruined the front decal for my Ms Pacman. There goes $65 down the drain.

I have a ugly mspac cab that noone wants.

Rough gouges in wood, no back door. Scratched art, flaking bezel, blah blah

Got it in a package deal... Regreting it now

If I could go back in time I wouldn't have done it....

If I could go back in time I wouldn't have made a dedicated R-Type II out of an original R-Type cab albeit the cab did need and get a lot of restore love and the only thing really not reversible is the side art (didn't even touch the original CPO as I sourced a different control panel that already had the CPO removed) so the game can be quickly returned to R-Type 1 with a PCB, Marquee, and Control Panel swap which I have set aside minus the original side art. The sad part is, the side art was the only thing in very good condition when I got the cab and I still regret pealing it off, lol. If I could go back I would of instead just sunk a Mikes Arcade 2-in-1 Jamma switcher in my other very nice condition survivor R-Type cab and ran both PCB's in the same cab and that would of made much more sense being limited on space and not having two cabs with the same basic game/gameplay. I'm actually thinking about doing that and getting rid of one of the cabs but not sure which one I should get rid of - very nice condition original survivor (probably the best condition original survivor out there as R-Type's always seems to be bashed apart and ratty) or the painstakingly restored cab that I have even more money into...very tough choice to make on which one to keep... :(

But it is cool knowing I have potentially one of two fully restored, dedicated, and custom one-off CPO R-Type II's out there....

I honestly think you did the right thing, that looks amazing now and it's basically a dedicated Type II now. Looks awesome. I would personally keep them both, they look amazing next to each other.

The first time I played Resident Evil 4 on the Game Cube I walked throughout the entire game because I didn't know you could run. I have since beat the game probably twenty times and have everything it offers and is one of my favorite games.

It took me three weeks to fix a slow roll on my Frogger monitor. The fix took 2 minutes, but I put it off for weeks until one of kids complained about it.

I once had the inability to resist hitting the red rejuv button on my Sencore CR-70 while testing the CRT in my MK4. The gun was right on the line between green for OK , and red for bad on emission. Wiped the gun out completely and ended up driving 75 miles that day to fetch a 25" tube and had to swap it out. Should have left it alone.
