Damn it, I might just make this a dictatorship...
Id like to see something like this, lol, becaue there is not a single member in this forum that can conform to the preservation of video games.
Perservation is way different as restoration. Every one here cany wait to get a new CPO, or sideart, etc. preservation is keeping the game all original, no reproduction parts
I have a Star Wars cockpit that I am parting out to make room for 2 uprights.
It is HUO but so what!![]()
I actually never replace parts in my machines. I like to keep them ENTIRELY original. I could "restore" a lot of them and they would like pretty like the rest of em, but I prefer the original look. To me working and original is better than working and completely repro'd to the point where it's basically a NEW machine.
That is the way I feel about my Galaga. I got it working but I don't want to paint and replace the artwork. Those are the battle scars it got back in the day. It would be like erasing all that!
That said, I do like a clean cabinet! I am really pleased with the Baby Pac I bought. Also if I found a cabinet that had been converted I would restore. That I have no problems doing.
I have been thinking about restoring the 25" Bad Dudes I have that was converted to a MK. I need to find a cabinet for the MK first though. Can't go without MK.![]()
I restore my games because I don't want something resembling a beat to hell turd in my living room.![]()
Battle scars are EXACTLY how I feel. I also like them to be clean, and if it's a conversion, restoring is just making them as close to original as possible.
