NEW KLAX mini side art - attention Carrie Z

I feel like the klax cabaret will always be a popular cabinet, but not a popular game. I love the game, but it's still under the radar of almost everyone.

That said, I still want art for mine. I have 2 and 1 I'd like to de-convert.

GLEEK ~ Where have you been?! I never see you at The Arcade..!
the arcade in brighton is a little over an hour drive for me.. so i'm not there that often, and their hours of operation sucks ass. so yeah. there's that too.

I know . . . lame, right? I've had the next story on the verge of being ready to post for a couple of months now. The trackball on the game that the story is about has been vexing me, but as soon a replacement optical board arrives, then the story should have the happy ending it deserves and I can post it. As a teaser, I'll tell you that it's told from the perspective of my Missile Command cabaret, which speaks in a Soviet accent. It's a dark and quirky tale. I'll let you know when I get it published!

I'd name that blog segment, "Missiles & Balls" :)

Has the Tetris cabaret bezel, CPO, or side-art been scanned. It's the exact same cabinet, so conversions between Tetris and KLAX are a snap. Truthfully, my KLAX was always intended to be a Tetris, but I could not find a decent CP w/CPO for it. Seems like the bezel art may have been done, but does anyone recall?

Glad to hear at least the KLAX cabaret side-art is being scanned.

The Tetris bezel art is available: http://forums.arcade-museum.com/showthread.php?t=361029 — this is really the only unique art for the machine. The side art is the same as the conversion kit. The CPO is inconsequentially different — there's a part number printed on it that's visible on the underside of the CP, but it's otherwise identical to the kit CPO. I have a set of NOS kit side art & a CPO I want to put on mine some day. Anyone have a source for the vinyl? I looked at some of the stuff for 720, but it's not the same shade.

Oh, and the other unique parts on this game are the plastic bezels sandwiched between the button and CPO. They don't seem to be part of the upright kit, and mine is missing one. If anyone recognizes them from another game or knows where to find them, I'd sure love to replace the missing one on my game.

I'm bumping this old thread to see if anyone has made progress on reproing the Klax CPO and side art. I'm in for both if anyone does them. :)

I recently spoke to the great folks at This Old Game and Rich has some NOS Klax cabaret side art that he's working with to make a reproduction. I don't know when he'll be done, but it's in the works! Rumor has it that they might even do a Klax t-shirt, too!

Thanks CarrieZ! That's great news!

I just got a very nice Klax cabaret that could use a new CPO (nicotine brown indeed) and side art. Put me down for some if they ever come up.

So I heard through the grapevine that KLAX may have had UV reactive inks it its artwork. I was curious to know if it was true, so I got my UV flashlight and went to investigate... My KLAX mini is very shit-browned out. I shined the light on the CPO (the side art is long gone) and.... nothing.

I did UV the Bezel, though, and there were some elements of the bezel art that lit up florescent. Thought that was interesting.

I'm wondering if the fade of the KLAX art is due to the UV inks bleeding them out. Anyone have some NOS or KLAX artwork that shows UV reactivity after all these years?

I checked with Kendra and she said it's in progress, but not completed. Wish I had better news.

It's been a year and a half since we heard that TOG 'was working on it' (December 2016) and they've quit being on the board.

I'm hoping some other folks will be willing to take this on in a more timely basis.

nothing in this hobby seems to move fast, we've been waiting ages for other art, and pcb.
