Had this waiting on my doorstep from Amazon today.

Got inside and turned on the TV to play.

Wii U game pad was dead. Wife left it off the charger after playing Mario Kart for a few days.

Bah.

Definitely interested in your thoughts on it. It looks like it is similar to the Kirby and the Canvas Curse on DS and I absolutely loved that game.

Took me forever to find it in the past, but when I did, I found it to be the first game I had played that was exclusively stylus that was a pleasure to play. It didn't feel awkward or forced, it was using the stylus because that is the easiest way to play it.

Played through several courses with the wife. It's very much like Canvas Curse, as expected. I'm enjoying it but also sort of not...I guess because I'm stuck playing on the game pad while my wife gets to play on the big screen. Secondary players can move and fight like normal while Kirby just rolls around.

Enjoying it enough to play it through all the way but haven't decided if I'll replay levels to pick up collectables I missed or not. If you liked Canvas Curse, then you'll most likely like Rainbow Curse, but part of the charm of CC was the DS. It carries over well to the game pad, obviously, but sort of bothers you when you want to playing your $40 on your big screen :p Then again, maybe that's part of why it's only $40.

Don't get me wrong, I expected this since I knew how the game would control, but it's still a bit disheartening, at least for me. For those who will be playing solo and like playing on the game pad, then no worries. For those playing with the wife and kids, the more people (up to 4 including you), the more hectic but probably the more fun it'll be.

It's going by quick, too, so there's a decent chance I'll finish it this weekend unless there's a lot of unlockable levels or something, or if the difficulty ramps up (which I doubt - Kirby games are usually easy all the way through or a bit harder all the way through). Either way, I'll report back more later this weekend.

Okay, well, there is one stage so far where you become a tank and blow a ton of shit up and your charge move like that involves you opening up a bunch of hidden missiles then blasting them all at once. That was pretty great :D

Played solo through a few more worlds today and tried a few of the challenge stages. I'm enjoying it. I guess I'm over the whole not being able to use the TV thing...I just wish the game pad's wireless would reach to my office so I could sit at my desk any play.

I *think* maybe playing multiplayer changes the boss characters or something because when the wife was playing, we kept going up against the same (mini?) boss that it seemed like I couldn't hurt but that she could. It would continually come at me so I'd have to dodge and try to lead to her character so she could attack it. So far I haven't see that enemy since I played solo. Then again, maybe it was only in worlds 1 and 2, I have no idea. Point being, I'm enjoying the bosses more in solo mode.

It's good, though I think I enjoyed Canvas Curse more. Though that probably has to do with the originality of the concept at the time. I don't have any amiibos so I can comment on that feature, though it looks like maybe you can use certain amiibo characters on certain levels but not all. OR maybe they just unlock stuff in those levels. I haven't read up on it since I don't have any of them.

In short, it's good. It's worth the $40 if you enjoyed CC and don't mind playing on the game pad. Seems like an enjoyable experience but I'm not sure how much replay value there will be. There's quite a few challenge levels to unlock as well as a bunch of collectable figurines and music, but they don't seem to do anything as of yet. I haven't even noticed any stamps to use in Miiverse, but maybe I'm overlooking them.
