Am workin on a project in the near future and was wonderin if its possible to hook up a set of speakers directly to an amplified sound board and then run that straight to a 12 power supply? am going to make something really cool out of this project!

If I guessed right at the pieces you left out, you are trying to power a sound board from a 12V power supply to drive a set (pair?) of speakers.

Depending on the sound board, it should be possible.

I think you would get a better respose if you were more specific about what you were trying to do and the hardware you are trying to do it with.

1) What source are you planning on driving the sound board from? Arcade video game, XBox, PS2, PS3, ....
2) Is this source stereo or mono?
3) What type of speakers are you planning on driving? 6", 8", 10", 4ohm, 8ohm.
4) If stereo are you planning to use woofers & tweeters, single cone, subwoofer?
5) Multiple speakers (subwoffer, woofer & tweeter) are you planning on a separate crossover network or do you want the amp to supply those?
6) Do you want an off the shelf or are you planning on building custom from components?

There are a lot of options out there from a $5 Radio Shack special to a $2000 Nakamichi pre amp & amp stack. Details help nail down what you are trying to do.

How much power does the amp need? Are you using a pre-made board from a set of cheap computer speakers? If so, those run off of a wide variety of voltages and you may find yourself needing to reduce the 12v supply down to 6 or 9.
