Kinda Sad!!!!

Almost appears homemade -- There are so many original pieces not there that I find it hard to believe it's simply a hacked Joust. Hopefully homemade, if so, i've seen much worse.

It isn't a Joust.. Looks like one of the ones that gets mis-identified as Joust...

Of course the site I found those on says it is a gun fight cocktail, but it looks nothing like the flyer version...

And gunfight wouldn't have CoinCo over/under doors, it would have been a single entry Bally/Midway one. Were the O/U even available in the 70's?

Nice 60's speaker tweed / woven surface.

I agree that the 2 other pics are Exidy cocktail cabs, but the pic in the CL add isn't. Look at the flat area between the control panels. Definitely not the same. Maybe a later revision? Same glass clips....

I think your over thinking it a bit... Looks like they stuck some black vinyl on there or something as part of the conversion process. Same goes for the speaker grill looking material that was below. The same basic shape is there and the angles are the same. It could be a later version of the cabinet, but is probably just been through numerous conversions and been changed over time as a result.

Control panel is deeper on the CL cabinet...and the middle is not squared but more angular.

Yeah, you would need to make it deeper to mount Joysticks. The original just had some simple buttons and didn't require the additional depth. The other ones have deeper CPs too, but those even have the same material on the bottom and are certainly closer to the original.

The middle being more triangle shaped than rectangle is the tell-tale sign that the CL cab is NOT the Exidy cab my friend.

Could be they tried to use pre-existing, deeper Bally/Midway control panels, but since they're rectangular without the angle that the FAX CPs have, they instead cut that middle wood section to accommodate the control panels.

However it looks like the glass profile lines up with the smaller part of the middle section, so maybe it's some other cab ;)

EDIT: It actually looks like the whole coin door panel is a little wider in the front on the CL game vs. the others.

If nothing else, we certainly established that the CL one isn't a Joust.
