When I power on my Killer Instinct arcade, the normal sounds are replaced with loud staticky interference sounding noises that sounds a lot like dial-up internet back in the old days. The sound issue does persists the whole time, but everything else seems to function normally. The arcade has always worked properly before until one day the sound issue occurred when it was powered on.
I have tried and verified a couple things following some suggestions per some forums and YouTube videos, but still have had no luck.
The big capacitor by the heat sink seems to be intact and not leaking. I did not notice any obviously bad solder joints on the PCB. The connections to the PCB and the power supply do not appear to be loose. A value of -5.02 volts is coming out of the JAMMA connector that is plugged into the PCB.
I did see suggestions for other sound issues saying that one of the sound chips by the heatsink could have gone bad. Is there any way to verify this before I replace any of them?
Any information is appreciated. Thank you all for your time.
