I just bought a dedicated Killer Instinct cabinet to restore. The cabinet is a lil rough but easily fixable and best of all it had a good monitor, that is until i got it home and unloaded off the truck. As I was sliding it off i started to hear a hissing noise that sounded like my tire was going flat. But I looked and no tires flat so I said thats strange. So I got it off and plugged it up and now all I hear is a whinning sound and the monitor want power on. now I know it was working cause when i bought it i turned it on and off and I could see the monitor flicker. It didnt have a board with it. But i figured heck a cabinet and a good working tube is worth a $100.00 bucks. Anyone have any ideas?

hissing noise? well... a monitor tube imploding could make such a sound.

go over every connection inside the machine. make sure everything's plugged in.

I'm not entirely sure why the glass neck would break, unless you dropped the cab hard or something. your neckboard's still up, so I don't know.

maybe someone else with a similar experience can chime in. I'm at a loss here.

Well first off, congrats on the new cab. second, try to take some more pics of the back of the monitor showing the Neckboard, Yoke, and Tube area. maybe some of these guys can see some damage from the pics and have some suggestions on what to replace.

I believe it did loose the vacuum. I think I know what happened as well. I do remember it getting hung on my truck when I was pulling it off and it was the dollar bill chute that had fell and hung, so i think it pushed against the neck board because it was a little loose. So I guess it cracked the yoke tube. Damn this sucks to cause the monitor did work great and most of all had 0% burn. Damn damn damn

Well I guess I can pull the chassis off and sell it cause it is still good im sure. But its going to be hard to find another 25" monitor around here.

Well after futher investigation the only thing i can see is the little white ring on the back of the yoke came loose. But i thought you could remove them completely from the monitor anyway to put on other monitors. Wouldnt doing that mess tubes up as well?

you mean it didn't have a back door? :0!

yeah, if you grabbed the neck when it fell and heard a hissing then the tube's probably trashed.

too bad. I think it's fairly obvious the amount of love for KI I have. :(

If you go directly through wells garner you can get a brand new 25" for just a hair over $300. They have amazing shipping prices, dont know how they can do it. I put one in my KI and its got a great picture.
Sounds to me like you let the magic fart out of the monitor. You cant always see a crack in the tube but usually they crack right at the base where the neck pins come out.

I love the KI's too. I have a KI1 and KI2 in my collection. These are definitly a couple that will always be in my collection.

Yeah it had a back door but the lock was missing so I didnt have it on when I hauled it. I didnt grab the neck, the dollar bill chute was loose and fell and got hung on it when i was sliding it off the truck.

Yeah I think the little plastic ring at the neck pins came off.

yeah, I think that's why they say to screw the back door on with 4 screws when transporting. it's a factory label, but they disappear or fall off over time.

just another real life mistake, it happens. monitor probably had mileage on it anyway, for a restoration it's worth it to replace I guess. :)

Im still kicking myself though. Monitor was beautiful with no burns. Probably better than any of the other ones i have. Its down right depressing. Oh well.

Well I lucked up and found another 25" monitor for 50.00 with no screen burn and chassis seems good to. Its a Hantarex MTC9000 chassis. Never had one of these before but ive got 2 Hantarex polo's and they are great.
