I've got a KI cab I'm looking to clean up real well before selling it. It's been a fun project! And is my first time to work on a cabinet cosmetically. I'm wondering though, what other ideas you guys might have for cleaning this thing up?

First thing I did was take the buttons apart and clean them. I'll be ordering new switches too. Are the joysticks complicated to disassemble and reassemble?

With the buttons off, I went ahead and cut a new piece of polycarbonate to replace the cracked, scratched, plastic control panel cover. I'm not sure if the marquee is all one piece, or if it's paper behind plexi, but I might replace that too.

What other suggestions do you guys have to make this thing look nice? I'll try and take some pics tonight.

T molding, cap kit, cf disk, maybe my instruction card if I ever finish it.

Joysticks are cake to take out/apart/replace. take the e clip off and they should pull apart (unless there's lots of soda ect that's been spilled down in them then it could take slight effort).

if the screws that hold the plexi/lexan are rusted you can spray all of them with a fresh coat of black or order 10 new ones from twisted quarter.

marquee will run you about $25 off the bay.

Bring on the pics, maybe someone will see something you should change up :D

Took some pics in the dark garage on my crappy phone cam. Not the best quality, and certainly don't help the cab any, haha!

The T-molding looked really good i thought. No chunks missing or discoloration or anything, I might just leave that.

took a before shot of the unpopulated control panel. It's a KI converted to KI2. When this is cleaned, and the new polycarb installed, i'm hoping it looks amazing! I did repaint the screws, too!

The Polo monitor was capped, new flyback, and new HOT. It's got a real good picture to it. I'll take more photos as the project gets further underway!

Thanks for the encouragement guys!

awesome!

I wouldn't bother with the T molding then, once you get the ki1 cpo and marquee in there it'll look fresh!

Other than that, the only other thing i might recommend is maybe putting a fresh coat of paint on the front/top/back/coin door. depending on what shape the front is in that is, honestly if your going to sell it or not that much of a perfectionist it looks great as is once the cpo and marquee are addressed.

Convert it back to KI1? I don't think I can do that. Seems that'd cost way too much, and being broke is why I'm selling this thing. haha!

Got the buttons reinstalled, cleaned monitor and monitor glass.

Well, with the board glitching, I might sell it for what I can and put it towards an original KI board, meaning I'd convert it back.

Question though, the CPO seems to be a collection of stickers on there. What do ya'll think the odds are that the original CP will be intact under there? Or that it'd be in decent shape under those stickers?

chances are good, just use extreme care when removing it.

Looking at the price of a KI board, and knowing I have to sell this thing (preferably working), would it be worth converting back?
