some of ya may know, but I work as a Cop here in Charleston. A quiet parking lot that I have always hung out in, doing paperwork of course, and not playing on this Ipad, I just figured out is the warehouse for an arcade operator. I met him the other day, and he seemed to be amazed that I was into collecting these money pits. I know, I know, cops are supposed to be dumb and poor. Oh well, the wife makes the money, I just handle the jokes! well, anyway, we got to talking and he was impressed by my restoration pictures I showed him on my Ipad and my arcade technical knowledge and savvy, not to mention my incredible personality and astonishing great looks.... Back on point, he says he has a Cruisn World sit down in his other warehouse, fully workin, that he will part with for cheap... Real cheap. I'm not gonna count the chickens yet, but it sounded to be REAL cheap... Free? He is gonna bring it to this warehouse next week for me and show me it works 100%, then deliver to my house also.
My question, Is this a cool game to own? I've played Cruisn USA, but not World. Is it problematic? I'm not really into driven games, but I have the space and can't pass the price.... What should I check, if anything?

also, how many games can I plug into one power strip? jus asking!?! not like there aren't already 5 there Already!!

I'm surprised he would get rid of that game cheap. It's a fun game and the board alone fetches about $150-$200. I wouldn't say that this game is more trouble or work than most others, unless it's the deluxe version.

only prob with this is that hes an operator....which means he thinks they are still worth 1000's. cheap to him may be 900

If he's giving it to you for free I'd take it for sure. If you've got small kids (from your Avatar I would think that you do) they will love the game. The only real problem with these games is the medium res monitor.

I try to hook up cops when I see them in our arcades. Cops are people too!

Crusin' games are solid... the only issues I've ever had with one was it would reset from time to time, you just have to make sure your power supply is at a good 5v and that the eproms on the board are clean . Worst case scenario a belt might be broken on the steering, but it was a very good design, as were all the Midway driving games around that time (Crusin, off road, etc.)

I'd think he likes the free security outside his warehouse.

BTW doodles, You ever been to Aw shucks or tommy condon's?

Boards are pretty good on these. The force feedback can have wear problems and get a "clunk" in it, but that can be fixed with a little work. Most problematic part on these games is the U5000 monitor. See if it's been replaced and or upgraded. Nice games for kids especially.

Yeah, I used to go to Shucks and Condons all the time......until we had baby beast, now Im not as cool as I once was.

I hope to hear from the guy today or tomorrow. He said it would be ready Tuesday, and that's fine....I gotta go diving for work today anyway

Cool story... and cool to hear you're in Charleston SC! I live in WV but my wife and I really love Charleston SC and have visited it a few times. We were just there a month ago on vacation, actually, and at at Condon's! Truthfully we would like to move there. Probably won't happen until our kids are grown though. (They are 1 and 3 right now... two girls!)

My half brother and sister's family own both of them. Good food for kids ;) I really should go back some time. It was fun looking at all the civil war stuff.

Just inspected the game. It's actually Cruisn USA, but runs great, and in really excellent cosmetic shape! Side art is perfect. Force feedback works perfect, and great price.... Only a delivery charge, that I talked them into.....It's actually the second one of a linked set. The first one has monitor problems that he's trying to fix. He said I can probably have the first one later after he fixes it for maybe 300.
It's being deliver tomorrow, so pics to come. The screen has slight burn in of the Cruisn logo, but hardly noticeable in game play. I bet my daughters gonna love it.
You know, my wife gave the all clear to buy one, and this one is basically free.. does that mean I can get another? Probably just hold out for it's twin when he fixes that.
How much is this thing worth anyway, cosmetically nearly perfect, fully functioning? Just wondering.....

Thats awesome man!

Here in WA state I've seen that game go for anywhere from $500 - $1200 over the last couple of years. Prob closer to $500 these days with how depressed prices are.

If I were an op and hooking up a cop with a free game it would have to be an APB, seems only right. ;)
