I got prok's Zoo Keeper kick plate art a week ago. It's gorgeous, easily the prettiest thing in the house. I've never applied art like this before.

So - just to be 100% certain - the right way to do this is to remove every single nut, bolt and screw, follow that up by removing the coin door, and then apply the art to the bare wood, right? Afterwards, I'm going to cut where the screws are meant to go, and then slide them in, on top of the art, I assume?

Forgive the newbie question, I just don't want to mess this up. This thread can ALSO be about how awesome prok's Zoo Keeper art is. I know I'll be posting pics when it's been applied.

I have never applied art to bare wood. I always paint to give the adhesive something to hold on to. I will usually wipe down the surface I am about to apply the art to with 99% alcohol. If this is a vinyl sticker (basically) you will want to make sure the cab is prepped and free of any imperfections you do not want to show. Vinyl will show all little bumps, divots ect that are under the vinyl.

I'm about to take a shot at installing Galaxian kick art I got from Quartercade. I'm a little hesistant about it too, it seems like maybe an adhesive spray would be good too?

The whole key is to have the prep work done. As stated above, any imperfection that you can feel before the art is applied will definately be amplified when the art is on. Smooth. Think Smooth.... ;)

you really really need to make sure you get the surface as smooth and clean as possible. I recommend sanding it flush, priming it and hand sanding until you can't feel anything.

Thanks, everyone. I applied it, and it really looks fantastic. Amazing work, prok!

That came out great Jonesy! can I steal that pic for my website?

I'm looking forward to the rest of it being printed up sometime soon, always fun to see hours and hours of drawing become something real.

Absolutely, prok, feel free! And thanks. I really can't say enough good things about your craftsmanship here, it's amazing. Now I wish I had more games that did something with the kick plate area. I'm going to jump on the side art when it is available, as well!

That turned out like frosted flakes...GGGRRREEEAAAATTTT!!!
I was going to sugest reading my kickplate art install on Burgertime

http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php?topic=66421.0

but it looks like you got it.

I had not considered a squeegee before (I used a, er, shopper's club card and a ruler for my ZK) but I'm going that route next time. Hell, it'd be good to have one for my car, anyway. Thanks for posting that link. Your BurgerTime looks amazing!
