Been playing this game steadily since the Chuck E Cheese days. This weekend, finally got around to some finishing touches that I'd been putting off for years, including replacing the burnt out bulbs in the buttons.

In the arcades we frequented, the KICK buttons were always lit up. But after fixing up the CP on my machine tonight, I noticed that the buttons are lit up... until a balloon/item falls past the top most balloon on the clown's head. Then they turn off, signalling the player to KICK before turning back on. Pretty cool.

Did ops BITD just bypass that connection for games out on location? Or is it something that was removed from later iterations of the game?

Are you 100% sure that your memories of the lights always being on are correct? Because I doubt that a version exists out there without that feature built into the pcb, so keeping the kick lights on all the time would've required some re-wiring by the op(s) for no apparent gain...

100% certain. The lights never turned off on the machine we played at CEC. Guess it's just a fluke.

Thats cool, I don't remember that either, and played it alot with my dad way back at Showbiz. :)
