After months of working on a kick man purchase, it finally came today thanks to osver transporting it for me (but purchased from someone else near Seattle). It is non-working but supposedly the board works on a test bench. So far I've confirmed that the power supply is a problem, so I'm going to try hooking up a switcher and see if I can get it to boot. I believe the monitor is also dead because I don't see any glow, but I've got a deluxe g07 rebuild kit so I imagine it won't be too hard to get that up and running.

The cab can definitely use some clean up and touch up, but is basically pretty solid. Marquee is great as is the bezel and inner artwork. CP has the usual wear.

Nice! I always look foward to seeing a game restoration!

Nice Jeff! You make projects that you need to take on sound so easy. Haha.

Great pick-up and I hope to see pictures of it up and running real soon.

It was a fun afternoon filled with a 2 hour delay, 2 games I'd never played before (mouse trap and mappy) and 2 slices of pizza.

Nice hanging out with you and your family Jeff, thanks for feeding me and letting me play your games.

Congrats on getting one of the most underrated classics of all time...

I totally agree! Great pickup, Shanman. It will look great when you're done. I'll bet that it will be one of the most popular games in your collection, it's very addicting...

Kick man

Great game. Congrats. You need a rebuilt power supply. You wont be happy with the switcher. They hum pretty bad in Kicks. Also. with the switcher it wont save high scores or your settings. A lot of the settings on these are in a menu screen and the battery powers the RAM to save them on powerdown. If you need any help, Just ask.

Thanks guys!

I sure appreciate your help getting the game down here, and you're welcome anytime. I feel awful that you had to wait up there wondering if and when you'd be able to pick the game up. If it weren't for that we would have had more time for playing games before you had to go!

Oh, I'm not one to throw switchers in games that originally had linears. That's just to see if I can get it to boot. I gotta see what's out there in terms of rebuild kits.

By the way, the tag inside the cabinet just says "Kick". Does that mean it really is a Kick? Maybe they didn't change the tag for kick man?

Yeah I agree Kick Man is very fun game. I used to play a lot of it at the local skating rink. It was my go to game whenever I went there and is one of the ones I had to pick up and add to my collection. Nice addition to the gameroom Jeff.

Looks like not only does Bob have a repair kit, but it uses the same PS as spy hunter and tron. So rather than trying the switcher I can just pull a PS from one of my spy hunters.

They all say just kick on the tags and the roms reguardless of what one it is. All the Kicks had serial numbers lower than 1501.

according to the KLOV archives the only two differences between kick and kick man are the marquee and the fact that they added the pac man character to the kick man code. I guess kick does not have pac man in it. Wouldn't surprise me if they never changed the tags inside.

The KLOV entry is incorrect. Even the Kicks have the Pac Man caracters in them including the ghosts. The only difference is the title screen and the marquee. They added "MAN" to tie it in better with Pac MAn when the sales were not as robust as they would have liked. there is no difference at all in game play.

Now I know who called me yesterday looking for a phone number. I could barely hear you and you kept breaking up on me.

Shanman - Let me check my emails, I may have some back history with the problems that particular machine was having. The previous owner was slated to bring it up to my place for repairs, and never got around to doing it.

Nice pickup on the Kickman, I am picking up mine this weekend , and I am assuming power supply issues with it as it is not working, I will be following your progress. Hope its an easy fix...
