Does anyone know if Ken at irepairsega.com is still fixing boards? Has anyone ever worked with him?

He is. I have not worked with him, I've fixed my own NAOMI boards and a couple for some others.

Check over on the sega-naomi.com forums. There are several members there that have used his services and were happy.

I've had him repair a Naomi and a pair of Indy500 boards for me - he does top-notch work and you pay for it.

Thanks guys. I think I am going to send him my Sky Target boards, as I have no idea what the problem with it is.

You too? What is the game doing? Can you hear it playing blind? If you can then chances are the video board is out on it. Mine is out atm. This seems to be the achilles heel of Model 2 boards. :( Might be cheaper to buy a Model 2A boardset with a different game and swap out the ROM board. A few people have on the forums have them for $100 + shipping.

The game displays just fine on the INSERT COINS screen, but as soon as it goes into the game play, the graphics all go to heck and then the game freezes. The background sound remains, but the game is frozen.

Also, when I run the MEMORY TEST, the graphics go to heck when it checks the CPU board.

Graphics board?

Sounds like it. Can you see the gameplay while it's on attract mode? If you have a working Model 2A boardset all you have to do is swap out the ROM board and the game should work. If it doesn't then the ROM board is out. I would guess all you have to do is reburn the roms.

Also in reading your sig. You have a California Speed with a 33" monitor?

You can see the gameplay, but the graphics are all shaky and blinky. It's somewhat playable, but it freezes fairly often. The only part of the game that does not have shaky graphics is the INSERT COINS screen and the WINNERS DON'T DO DRUGS screen. Other than that, graphics are flaky and shaky.

What other games use this board set?

The california speed 33 has been parted.

Virtua Cop 2
Virtua fighter 2
Sega Rally Championship
Manx TT
Motor Raid
Fighting Vipers
Gunblade NY
Indy 500
Rail Chase
Virtua Striker

Possible Model 2A

Dynamite Cop
Dynamite Baseball
Dead or Alive

You can't really tell unless you see the actual boards and compare part numbers though.

Sounds pretty similar to what was wrong with 1 of my Indy500 boards.

It looked fine until attract mode / gameplay and then all the polygons were messed up and the shadows were all wrong.

Ken charged about $135 with shipping to fix it.

Video coming. Check back in 5 minutes.

Ok, that didn't work. Just take my word for it.

I spoke with Ken, and he is going to do my repair. The price was much less than anticipated.
